Finally got around to playing it. Enjoying it so far, it's big, plenty of rooms to explore, just about everything I wanted out of a sequel and not mission-based like Dark Moon disappointingly was.

But there's just still one little thing missing. It just doesn't have that same creepy/eerie/weird vibe that I so loved about the original. And I don't know: is that "creepy feeling" really not there with LM3, or am I romanticizing the original out of nostalgia?

I wouldn't say it's ever really creepy. Great game, but fatigue really hits when you're finishing up the last few floors

You're definitely romanticizing. Also you're definitely not, it's not just you. It's both.

The game is definitely a lot more cutesy than the wonderfully nostalgic game that released 20 years ago but there's no denying that it's been 20 years since.

I didn't play 2 for obvious reasons, but was able to play 3 and glad that it truly recaptured the spirit of 1, which I replayed 5 years ago and still enjoyed (more so in fact)

Yeah I really liked 3 after the disappointment that was dark moon. But it definitely isn't as "dark" feeling as the original. Dark with severe quotes. I think it's just because the original was made so long ago that the atmosphere feels so different.

i really wish they could combine the puzzles and mechanics of the sequels with the atmosphere and ghost designs of the original. i haven't played 3 yet, and i had hoped that was what it would be after the trailers, but apparently it just isn't quite that

i also think the architecture of the original mansion really lent well to the atmosphere that just hasn't been replicated, but then again i'm not a dumb kid anymore. 3 looks cool at first with the oldsy-style hotel, but then it basically turns into a theme park
