Holden has literally done nothing

I have no reason to care about Naomis relationship with her son (and all these events are her fault anyhow)

in a series about the exploration and colonization of space, Amos has spent the whole season in post-apocalyptic Baltimore on a camping trip

Alex and Bobbie actually have an interesting story, but get approximately 5% of the screen time

worst of all, the core crew has spent 0 time together, and the show opened up millions of new worlds to explore TWO SEASONS AGO, only to not spend any time on them and instead decide to sit in belter-Mars-Earth relations in the solar system even more

what a shame. Seasons 1-3 were GOAT tier, season 4 was a drag, and it seems like this season largely will wind up being one too

it's kinda the fault of the source material. it should feel better once you watch S6. Books 5 and 6 are mostly one storyline that the show is only half way through.

i feel like all season 4 people told me this about season 5, that it would pick up and get great again. im sure ill finish regardless, cause im in it at this point, just miss the magic and yknow, expansiveness of the first three seasons. they had a great mix of politics, exploration/world-building, and action, and it feels like the latter two have gone out the window this season

The books are definitely better, but I really hated Marco as a character which soured me some on the storyline. It's still necessary for setting up the final act with books 7-9 though, which focus more on the series-long plot again.

S5 is the biggest departure from the books so far. it's usually worked out really well, but for whatever reasons the changes here fell a little flat. it was always going to be different, but it felt like they couldn't decide if they wanted to do just book 5 or both 5 and 6. when they decided to just do 5, they had to stretch some things out more than necessary and it cost them a bit.

He comes off that way in the book also. He's just a really over the top character. Though in the book when he decides to go off on a tangent it's more like a Hitler speech. He starts slow and builds, show Marco just goes big right from the get go.

Amos taking that guy on a vacation to Suplex City Beach redeemed the Season. Though I liked the whole thing anyway.

I think it's intentional. He's just constantly manipulating everyone around him, so it is all an act.

Like one neat little feature I saw someone mention in a Youtube video is that despite being the head of a Belter revolution, he doesn't have any of the tattoos that virtually every other Belter has.
