I just noticed a couple days ago that youtube videos are now defaulting to 480p when you open them. Anyone else experiencing the same? Can we fix it?

If it's on your phone, it's because they decided to default video quality to a lower setting because they're assholes.

I've always used an extension to force quality high because it seems they love to just randomly switch it to super finicky Auto even when I have a selected preference.

I use "Enhancer for YouTube" on Firefox, but I think there are a half dozen of such extensions for that and other browsers.

I've noticed it if I watch something from a channel I've never visited before, but for stuff I'm subbed to, it seems to be doing 1080p as usual

yeah i noticed a couple weeks ago that every single video i watched defaulted to the lowest quality. works fine when i switch it to 1080 but its weird that it keeps starting on 144. im on desktop btw
