What's your favorite brand of plain corn chips?

If I make nachos I usually use Xochitl.

I've never heard of any of those other than Tostitos.

Well, no, technically I've heard of Newman's Own, Herr's, and Kirkland (aka the Price Club/Costco brand) as general brands, but I've never actually seen any of those brands selling corn chips.

I'm with Mead on the Fritos, though. I'll eat Tostitos, but I vastly prefer Fritos. Especially since I eat them plain without any dipping (I'm allergic to salsa).

Doritos are a strong choice as well, though.

Do non corn based tortilla chips count?

What? You can't be allergic to a type of food. Salsa is a grouping of sauces, some of which use entirely different ingredients/preparation methods from each other.

Well, if you want to be pedantic about it, the word "salsa" literally just means "sauce" in Spanish, so technically things like Worcestershire sauce, cream sauce, gravy, and mayonnaise all count as salsa. In spite of the fact that almost no one would ever refer to them that way, and would look at you like you were insane if you did.

When normal people use the word salsa in general (English) conversation - and especially in the context of corn chips - they're almost always referring to the very specific type of salsa that involves tomatoes of some kind.

I'm allergic to tomatoes.

Do the math.
