Honestly I would just be happy enough if you can fight properly with your left handed weapon like in Dark Souls 2. Provided if it's combat ends up similar to dark souls of course.

Even in DS2 it's not ideal. Left-handed attacks do less damage and consume more stamina. You can't backstab or riposte with your left hand, and I'll have to double-check this, but I don't think you can do plunging attacks either.

Yeah true but you could do some mix ups that work out alright like pairing a slow weapon with a quick offhand one which shouldn't drain too much stamina to make use of. Can't honestly say if there's any time you want to do this for PVE tho when you can just swap the right hand out with the quick weapon.

I dunno.. base game summons can sometimes be pretty dumb. The ones they added for Scholar though I can get saying they are too strong.

Heck, Lucatiel has the habit of walking off the pier before even getting to the Flexible Sentry if your not careful at guiding her.

I ended up making it through to the next portion. Got the Bonfire there at least. Shaded Ruins? I didn't take on the boss (I found some markers that said Boss Ahead). Plus I need like... 5-6 of the unpetrifying items to really make the most of the area.

One important tip for Shaded Ruins that you probably wouldnt stumble upon without a guide:

theres an important npc merchant who you find by walking over some tall grass near the two towers leading up to the boss.

Good to know. I hopped over to Lost Bastille and I don't know how to proceed? I got to a door that doesn't open with the key I found in the area. Chatted with Lucatiel again though and she gave me a human effigy. ^_^

I forget your progression, but theres two entrances to Lost Bastille. One by beating Pursuer and one that starts at Heides Tower of Flame. Maybe try the other route?

Yeah, the way through the Pursuer is a dead end. You have to go through the ship in No Man's Wharf to progress.

It's not a dead end. You can easily complete the bastille from the pursuer side.

I thought once you beat The Ruin Sentinels it opened up to Sinners Rise

Nevermind I should have read the topic first.

Hmmm, I finally decided to look up WTF is going on, and it seems I did not follow through on a path after beating the Pursuer. Something mentioned an Eagle taking me places... and that never happened.

Alright well, I'll make my way that way.

Huzzah! I got where I needed to go and unlocked that door from the OTHER SIDE! I also got the Covetous Silver Ring and another of the Branches... so I can unfreeze the petrified man in the Bastille here.

Wow you must be a god cause my first DS2 character struggled so hard with the Sentinels and you knocked it out in an hour.

I was came back later with lightning spear to make the approaching ones weaker, which is how I finally did it. Power Stance Maces to kill the first one, Lighting Spear the approaching after the first kill, retreat down to the floor right before the third is poised to jump on that platform.

Then it was a matter of spacing my L2's to stack damage. Overall it took well over 30 tries.

I burnt thru every single healing item I had. 5 Estus Flasks, 9 Lifegems, and like 7 of the better Lifegems. It was difficult for sure.

I personally never liked the mace because the moveset just feels awkward.

After beating the Lost Sinner I got another Branch of Yore. I saw there was a statue in the Bastille that was blocking a bonfire. Is that a good use for it?
