Depends on the genre. In a strategy game, where you're not going to be getting a lot of hits, I want that crit to feel weighty. In an action game I barely have time to notice crits are happening.

I prefer the Game of Thrones approach where sneak attacks with daggers get a x1,000,000 damage multiplier and completely negate the target's armor, health / size, skill, and intelligence.
