I'd tell them..

A recent poll suggests that over 80% of young people, americans to be precise, aspire to be a social media star through various popular platforms such as Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram and Twitch...

But just as the majority of those people who aspire to be famous online also fail with a high 90% fail rate.

It's really because these people are too naive to think they can become famous so easily when most people that are popular did so because they got shout outs from other popular stars. Not to mention the online world is saturated and you really have to stand out from the rest to get that following and then the donations.

So if someone told you they wanted to be a social media star, would you tell them?

I'd laugh at them. Unless she was super duper fucking hot, then I'd ask what her OF is.

Do what you want and follow your ambitions. Don't get down if you don't have the will to work for it, it just means you don't really want it.

And 80 Percent? Damn. Though I can't count myself. Being famous sounds like a nightmare to me. You're chained to one thing your entire life because millions of people already recognize you for it and you can't change that.

It ain't that hard.

I'd probably just laugh, and maybe roll my eyes afterward. Yeah, people can become social media stars, but it's a stupid aspiration in the grand scheme of things. It's trying to become a celebrity without actually doing anything meaningful.

If you can do it effortlessly, it makes a lot of sense. If you're putting in effort, you might as well direct their effort to a more productive end.

Probably a lot higher than that, but there are an absurd number of people who earn most of their living through social media platforms.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a single celebrity that did anything meaningful before they were famous.

My choice isn't really in the poll. I would tell them that they could try if they like, but suggest them to have a backup plan. If they proceed, I would accept but not really do anything unless they ask for help.

old people always complain about young people wanting to be "social media stars"

but it's no different than people over the past 100 years who want to be movie stars or rock stars or sports athletes

everyone wants to be rich and famous and not have a real job nothing is new

boomers just whine about it because they don't like new forms of media

Sounds about right. Temper their expectations, but if they want to give it a shot and they've planned things out well enough to not have failure ruin their life, there isn't really any reason to discourage them.

I would want them to be cautious in the real chance it doesn't work out, but I couldn't fault them for having a dream. People like MrBeast turned their dream into a reality by grinding and being persistant. I think his big break was a video where he counted from 1-100,000 in one sitting. I mean, if that's what it takes for one person to become a star, I don't see how I could fault somebody for having a dream and trying to make it a reality.

As long as they don't do anything stupid, I'd say go for it.
