Thats why I just stick with a window unit. Noise can get annoying but its a hell of a lot cheaper.

Oof enjoy your water damage and mold.
Actually, nvm. I forgot a lot of places don't do roof units.

I had to replace mine last year for $3500. Thankfully summer isn't too bad here so I could get away with the cheapest central air unit they had (~12,000 BTU). Although I wish I could have held up for another year because my electric company just started offering cold climate heat pumps, which would have been great since my furnace is 20+ years old and will probably need to be replaced in a year or two.

I just had to replace mine, it lasted a nice 5 years.

Wait, 12k BTUs? That can't be right... mine is 13k BTU and only cost $600... then again, mine only lasted 5 years.

Yea, mine lasted almost 30...

Plus that was with installation.

did you have a central air unit or a window or wall sleeve unit? Sounds like your pricing and timeline is right in line with a window or wall unit. A bit on the low end for the time frame. They start to have issues from year 5-8 which is why service contracts typically only last 5 or 7 years.

ya, I didn't mean to shrug on the pricing, but on the power. my 13k btu unit is great for my ONE ROOM... so I don't see how 12k can do a whole condo
