In the wild, they generally don't live long enough to have tooth problems - and if they develop them, probably don't live much longer after that.

In captivity, it does happen. Although their diets generally being a bit healthier (and I'm going to guess in particular, their drinking being almost exclusively water) probably helps.

They don't eat sugar

However they still sometimes have problems. My cat has no teeth. I don't know exactly what happened. He was toothless when I got him but the shelter told me his original owner surrendered him because they couldn't afford dental work he needed. The shelter removed all his teeth

He is kind of right though, you never hear of horses or cows needing root canals and weird stuff like this. I do not think you ever hear of dogs or cats needing braces either. This is pretty much a human only problem.

Animal lifespans generally arent long enough for their teeth to develop serious complications.

But it does still happen, especially in domesticated animals.

Animals also don't have the societal pressure to look good as far as I know so if their teeth are a little off, it's not really a big deal as long as they are healthy.

Note, I don't know anything about animal teeth. Maybe they do have issues that should be taken care of but aren't.

Nature has a way. For example, rodents' teeth continue to grow throughout their entire life, and gnawing stuff maintains their dental health.

Koalas though...Their teeth are sharp and made for munching their only food source: eucalyptus leaves. Unfortunately, their teeth wear down, and eventually, the koala can't eat and simply starve :(

But animals do have teeth problems...

They either die of starvation when they lose all their teeth or evolved to keep regrowing them like sharks.

Probably because they don't live very long. I was bad, I went nearly 10 years without seeing a dentist and hardly brushing my teeth, pretty much from 21 to 31. It took that much time for 1 tooth to die and break in half before they had to remove it. I did however have 5 more cavities, all which have been filed and everything is much better but it still took at least 10 years to get to that point which really, I could have kept living if I did not smarten up and take better care of my teeth.

Humans that mostly eat plants and meat don't really have dental problems. Natural sugar is fine. It becomes a problem when you drink juice like crazy.

People from other parts of the world who never been to the dentist have 0 cavities. Diet is very important.

Animals most certainly have dental problems. Not so much cavity, braces etc but teeth get infected so they die young in the wild. Domestic animals pretty much need their teeth brushed to cut down on bacterial growth.

Problems do happen to animals. I remember watching a thing about a sea lion who had an infected tooth, and they had to major surgery on it to evacuate the pus build up. It can happen in the wild, but comparing animals to humans when humans willingly do things that are bad for their teeth, it's definitely going to be a far bigger problem for humans.

I was going to say, I'm pretty sure it's not uncommon for (usually mistreated) horses to have teeth issues. They get that anxiety/obsessive disorder where they won't stop chewing and mouthing on things like fences, stable doors, wire fences etc.

If you give animals, like dogs and monkeys, a lot of processed bread, sugar drinks, and cupcakes, then they would have cavities too.
