And there's just too many mobs of enemies. You hardly ever fight one or two alone.

Ive been noticing a lot of people warming up to 2 over time. I still go back to it sometimes but not nearly as much as DeS, DkS, and Bloodborne. 3 is the only one of them that I have no desire to play again.

I don't particularly like Dark Souls II, but I certainly enjoy it much more than the Nostalgiafest of Dark Souls III.

Unfortunately, From has decided to make the Scholar of the First Sin edition the standard version of DS2, and that's a nawg from me dawg.

I think Dark Souls 3 is an exceptional action game, with some of the best bosses (and also some that are just annoyingly difficult for the sake of being difficult) in practically gaming.

But that's not why I play Souls games. I want to be immersed in the world on offer, and every time I try to let myself go into the world of DS3 I am hit with yet another reference or other factor that makes it clear that the world can't exist on its own. DS2 has too much referencing of DS1 as is, especially with the NG+ lord souls, but it also creates its own world that has these minor annoyances scattered about it. Did we really need to know that Darkroot Garden got gross and ruined, even though the DS1 DLC already showed us it was already gross and ruined? And did it need to be the obligatory poison swamp?

That said, I actually like the revisit of Anor Londo in DS3. I think its handled thematically well and doesn't overstay its welcome. It's just a shame that it comes tailend on an entire game of "Spot of the reference. The one shoving its giant big butt in your face."

I fell in love with Souls with the 2nd. I think it was partially just chance, but ut wasn't the first I played. I had already played the previous 2 and they hadn't clicked. Now it's nowhere near my favorite tho. Maybe even my least. Still agree ut gets too much hate

You realize these games all take place in the same universe, right? The Boys to previous games isn't just fan service... that's how sequels work. Especially in games like DS where the world is in an unending cycle.

Clunky controls/combat, stiff animations, not a single challenging boss fight, bland environments, just in general a quantity over quality approach...

Shit Souls 2 is appropriately rated:

- Janky movement
- Areas and textures straight out of N64
- Butterfly set. LMFAO!
- Hideous models (Bro, the female's shoulders alone rival that of a Dallas Cowboy's linebacker)
- Lore is just cryptic, and vague just for the sake of being vague with no thought put into it.
- You can literally go take an unwiped diarrheic shit during the Parry/Reposte window and still have time left over.
- Weakest music.
- Pathetic Boss design

Not even delving into the lamest pvp in the series, awkward cinematic intro, disappearing enemies, knockoff characters, and the lack of poise.

Horrid, HORRID game.

Can't say it ever bothered me. The Herald and the Fire Keeper are both right next to the bonfire in the hubs, so you don't have to hunt them down or anything

Why does anything have to be "gained"? Maybe a knight of Catarina just...wears armor of Catarina? Maybe he speaks in the same dialect as other knights of Catarina. You seem to be overthinking.

there are several characters from Astora in the games but they aren't carbon copies from each other. Siegward presents the exact same archetype to the player in how he sits and ponders at an unusual mechanism in the world and waits for the player to solve it for him.

Look I'm not even saying I hate DS3 for all its callbacks or anything, but to pretend like Siegward isn't a very knowing nod to Siegmeyer is ridiculous.
