The Mr. Nimbus vs. Rick stuff is just the devil stuff all over again but with zero creativity. The Beth and Jerry subplot is the same joke from the first time they meet him all the way to the end credit scene. Summer literally has like one line. ~~They threw away Jessica's character~~. Morty's time in the gate is just sprinkles of various other episodes like the purge planet one mixed with the tinyverse episode. It honestly felt like a fan written, non-canon side episode which is not a great way to open a new season. Yup you summed it well. But yeah, she really hasn't been developed at all prior to this episode, so no one can really say she was acting in or out of character, because she's basically just been an animate trope thus far. I don't think she's ever going to be much of a character going forward ~~we already have 5~~, but at least now she might, instead of being a generic high school girl, gaze wide-eyed off into the distance as she speaks of the nature of time and existence.
