Seraphic Blue - Legacy is a song I heard over a year ago and did not recognize at all when I supported it which is still so crazy to me. But I think it actually highlights something that I seek out in music which I find is difficult to articulate. You know when you listen to a song a bunch and each time you keep noticing details you hadn't picked up on before, forming a deeper and deeper appreciation as time wears on? Some word adjacent to 'replayability' but more intimate than that.

Thank you for sharing Legacy. Came at a time when I needed to hear it.

-final voyage's sense of, well, finality has always struck me; I think this was the first track I heard on this soundtrack that made me want to play this game. very much an 'end of the universe' feeling; it's neat to compare this to hurry up's own take on what kind of felt like an 'end of the universe' sound yesterday; where the latter was increasingly frantic this feels like slow inevitability
-I marvel at legacy's ability to deliver a sense of mystery almost entirely with its composition. the section that starts at 1:17 is one of my favourite progressions in this contest; emotional but I'm never certain what emotion it is. I'm left to think about it long after it ends. Wonderful piece.
-very sobering tracks to (almost) close out round 1. music that seems to say 'it's over' and then 'what's next?'

Ys Origin - Genesis Beyond the Beginning
I really like the epicness of this track. The ebb and flow like progression of the strings and later guitar is really nice. The beat and other instruments in the background is weird for me. I don't know if I like it or not. On one hand it distracts me and doesn't seem to mesh with the main melody. On the other hand it provides a nice texture and contrast to the song. So kinda undecided on how I feel about that, but very cool song regardless.

Outer Wilds - Final Voyage
It's very etherial. I prefer songs that pump me up and are real bangers over calmer stuff like this. The cacophony of sounds halfway through makes me feel very weird. Kinda tense but also a little relaxed.

Seraphic Blue-Legacy
What's it called when a sequence of notes repeats over and over ? An arpeggio. Those were cool. I was waiting for a big drop or something cool with this but it didn't go as far and evolve as much as I expected. It sounded like it would accompany some ruins or a place with a sense of wonder and exploration.

I really liked the general motif in this one. It sounded like epic journey music right before the end of an adventure. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be the final boss, or if it really sounded like it, but it was cool. The solo like a minute sounded like a guitar solo but in 8 bit, which was very awesome. I did not like the very high notes of this, it sounded very grating for me, but I'll overlook it for how much variety it had over 80 seconds.

MATCH 1

Genesis Beyond the Beginning is a pretty good song all around! There's only one thing about this song that's a little weird to me, which is those fast choir notes at 1:06, but other than that, I have no complaints about this song.

Final Voyage has a neat atmosphere to it. Don't really care for the end of it, but the rest is pleasant.

MATCH 2

I definitely hear the PMD comparisons! Especially during the first half of the song. Though the second half of this song from 1:08 onwards is where it starts to pick up for me. The piano is pretty cool rhythmically and it has some interesting chords cycling through in the strings.

The Final Showdown is also a decent song. I can appreciate some of the rock elements to this song. Tough match. I thought I was going to stick with my favorites bracket the whole way through with this being the second to last day of round 1, but this match finally broke that streak. I think my interest in The Final Showdown has gone down while my interest in Legacy has overtaken it, so I'm voting against my favorites bracket for the first time.
