With incredibly satisfying combat, weird and wonderful creatures, and an awesome aesthetic, Scarlet Nexus is well worth your time

Overall, Scarlet Nexus is a simple, yet great and enjoyable experience for any fan of the genre out there. You hunt monsters, make yourself and your allies stronger, gather resources for making new cosmetics and gear, constantly unlock new features for inside and outside of combat, all that while you watch an interesting story materialize in front of your eyes. It really is a modernized, old-school adventure which will satisfy anyone, even with the few drawbacks it has and the rather slow beginning.

Having finished Kasane's version of the story and getting ready to experience Yuito's side, I'm truly appreciative of the storytelling. Japanese sci-fi has long been a genre I enjoy. Last year players were spoiled with 13 Sentinels, and Scarlet Nexus has delivered another wonderfully woven narrative worth playing. Do not sleep on this game! JRPG July is just around the corner and the perfect time to spend 60 hours playing video games.

This is the question on a lot of people's minds I think. I highly doubt the combat here is as good as Astral Chain's (based on Bandai/Namco's track record vs. Platinum's). Maybe the environments are better? My big problem with AC was that the "Astral Plane" levels were a bit boring.

The actual systems in place for this game seemed pretty darn good based on the demo but yeah the writing seemed super questionable and the frame rate on last gen consoles bordered on unplayable for me personally.

If this is worse than Astral Chain, it is a hard pass for me. That game's investigation sequences were a slog and the environments were largely uninspired and repetitive. The combat is good but not without it's share of flaws. I didn't just play the game casually either. I did everything including the post game and secret boss. It was definitely the worst Platinum game that I have played.

I will never understand people who do all the post-game and optional stuff for a game they didn't even like. It's a miracle if I stick with such a game long enough to finish just the main story!

I liked Astral Chain and I tapped out about halfway through the postgame fights, there was a ridiculous amount of them lol.

Had no idea that the m/f protagonists in this are actually separate campaigns (albeit with some overlap). I figured they'd just be avatar gender swaps. Interesting...

Surprised, I didn't really like the demo at all. Thought we were looking at another anime Dark Souls all over again (have literally forgotten the name of that crappy game)

I'm about four hours into this and I'm really, really liking what I'm seeing. Feels wild (and really good) to be playing a legit new AA IP in 2021 that's willing to do the stuff this game is doing. Combat is delightful so far with lots of neat systems at play, and the world is quite intriguing.
