I haven't played that since the 90s but I never owned it anyway and didn't play much. I owned X2. I always started on Wheel Gator in that game.

I did a no dash/special weapons run when I started playing X Legacy Collection. It was a change of pace not relying on steamrolling them and actually learning their full patterns. The first game is different from the rest since every level and boss before the final ones have to consider the possibility that the player can't dash yet.
