I was mostly called by my last name all throughout my school years.

I've an extremely common first name (there's always other dudes around named Dave) and a very unique last name.

Some people just have good last names for it.

My last name is a single syllable and has nice hard K's and G's in it. It's just fun to say. Definitely more so than my first name.

So I have regularly been referred to only by my last name both in social and professional environments. So do my three younger siblings.

I think it started with having to do with sports as a camaraderie thing. Their jersey's have their last name printed on the back, so other players would call their teammates by their last names.

They do that a lot in Ghostbusters and I like it. Venkman, Spengler, Zeddemore. They have cool, unique last names so make use of them.

Gotta name your kid properly to avoid it. I knew a guy with the last name pitt. His first name was Richard so everyone called him dick pitt. If his first name was Tom he'd probly just have been called pitt.

Funny enough, my middle name is Richard and with my close friends, if they aren't calling me by my last name, they just call me Dick.

I just own that shit.

Ive always preferred my last name. Maybe its a sports thing. There was a good stretch where people would say my first name and I wouldnt have any idea they were talking to me.
