The first rifle I shot was a Mosin Nagant when I was a teenager. My shoulder felt like shit after but it was fun, and loud. Like wow does going from pistols to a rifle sound different.

This, but I don't mind going to a firing range either. Especially because mountains are 4 hours away.

That's cool. I don't think I've ever shot a bolt action. I've shot 12g shotguns a lot though and they can kick pretty good

Yes, it was a shotgun and yes, I missed the center lol

It is highly unlikely with Glocks or any other high end brands, but you should shoot it just to make sure it works.

Yeah i bought a Glock because so many people said you can just pull it out of the box and it works perfectly without having to lubricate or clean it first.

I would still lubricate all of the metal on metal contact points and get the packing grease junk out of the internals. You dont need much oil just a tiny amount. There really isnt a reason to not clean and lube your pistol; you don't want to torture test something that is for saving your life.

The only times a glock is gonna truly give you trouble is if the mags are fucked up or you are using some very bad ammo.

Everything Ive seen is that the Glock 19 is like the holy pistol of reliability and quality.

Plenty of people said its 100% fine to shoot right out of the box and the factory grease is fine to leave alone and start shooting.

Any aggressive person should not own a gun, period.

Its illegal to shoot anyone who isnt bringing deadly force against you anyways so tough guys end up going to prison.

reliability is good as long as the magazines and ammo hold up (glock produced magazines are notoriously reliable though). id personally take it apart and clean it just because a lot of factory grease tends to be thicker in order to keep the gun from rusting while just sitting around waiting to be sold. it can lead to the gun being gunked up faster through carbon residue (from the ammunition) build up. they are reliable, but like anything else you get enough residue built up and it will jam.

"quality" is pretty subjective though. their good middle of the road utility guns for what they are, but do tend to be over priced in comparison to a lot of other stuff out there due to glock having a reputation (kinda like Colts).

It takes 5 minutes. Run it dirty/dry if you want though, it isnt my ass on the line if it fucks up. It probably will work but one would think you would put the minimal effort to make sure of that, regardless of what some gun counter hick told you, nobody in their right mind is gonna tell you it isnt better to have a lubed pistol, regardless of brand or model.

I love shooting my GP100. Has the 6 inch barrel to get the most velocity out of the bullet, and to help soak up the recoil from those more energetic rounds. can't remember what my best was but I've walked out clear past 75 yards without a sweat, with the factory sights.

They call it Glock Perfection for a reason.

You both have solid points.

That factory lube is essentially an anti-seize, and the idea is it helps with the initial break-in with the firearm. Afterward it's good practice to keep your concealed penis properly stuffed with your sex jelly of choice.

Just take it to a good smithe who will find any problems with it, make sure the barrel & slide are aligned correctly, no problems with the spring, the ejector is perfect, no play on the hammer, adjust the sights, check for debris from the packaging, oil it, break it in, adjust the trigger, etc
