When I worked in a call center 10nyears ago, I got calls from Cali being rather insensitive to Asians and Hispanics more than any other place

When I lived in the east coast as a kid it was all about the hustle and bustle. Over here people are more chill.

I imagine, they have more of a sultry history stemming from the 60s even when all the hippies were out and about enjoying summer lol

157,000 homeless and growing in Cali.

That's 0.39 of the population of CA - some of whom whom are bussed from other states or come independently from other states to be in California. Not good but it's being worked on. 157K in CA doesn't mean what it means in a flyover.

Also the "mass exodus" the right is clamoring about is 182K or 0.46 of the population.

All numbers available from the Census Bureau.

CA is big. Any number from CA is big. Unless you are going per capita or as a percentage of the population, you are completely disingenuous presenting any number from CA without context. Because it will be larger than just about everyone else.

Yep. The majority of our callers are calling from LA, San Fran, and Sacramento. The LA and San Fran people are the most abusive, especially when they get told something they want is illegal or impossible. They're like children...

I mean a lot of people from those big cities are transplants too.

but I mean San Diego has a city nicknamed after the klan so it honestly doesn't surprise me.

Its not bad. Depends where you go. Areas like Stockton and Modesto are more mini Oakland/San Francisco while everywhere else is fairly quiet and small, which I like. @ZannoL

Sure, they're heavily populated, but basing your pride on being heavily populated and having an insanely high cost of living jacking up the absolute value of everything isn't something to be proud of. Not being able to get by working 80 hours a week at $15-20/hr isn't something to be proud of.

But then, that is a loud minority talking about "trash confederate states" while living in a place with as much, or more, racism and homophobia as said former confederate states. Most people in California are no different than the people in Georgia. Just like the people in Georgia are no different thant he people in Ohio.

Probably doesn't. I lived back east 8 years and marveled how little people know about the West Coast in general and CA in particular.

First off, CA is bigger than Japan. L.A. County alone is 4K square miles.

Also they assume the climate is the same across the whole state of CA. I'm serious.

California is represented in the media differently. people think Cali is all sunshine, palm trees and Hollywood, but many people migrated to Cali, especially from the South.

even Los Angeles looks different depending on what part of LA you're in, lol. East LA looks different from West LA and has a whole different vibe.

then there are places like Simi Valley where you might have a terrible experience with the police if you're Black, and Chico way up North where they really don't want too many Brown people period.

I know you're basing this off anecdotal evidence, but in my anecdotal evidence I've been living in LA for a good amount of my life and I honestly can say I almost never hear any racial or homophobic slurs from most people. Maybe during rush hour when everyone is frustrated or when I used to work at a warehouse at UPS where everyone who uses racial slurs at each other was mostly doing it when everyone was in on the joke. Like Hispanics calling each other the B word.

If there is one thing I can agree with you on your original post, in saying that one state is superior to the next because there is always massive pros and cons living in each state.

Yeah, for instance San Diego area,Orange County, many parts of NorCal and MidCal are republican leaning in comparison to places like LA or San Fran.

Subsidy based "bubble economics" ultimately lead to several periods of heavy loss followed by rapid growth. Every cycle of the bubble results in a greater and greater shifting of wealth because the regulatory bodies that are allegedly responsible for preventing it are completely captured by those responsible.

Influencing aggregate demand through economic intervention policies is a great idea; until you allow the entity responsible for intervening to become compromised in the manner we have over the years. At which point they become a willing accomplice to the dangerous policies that created the bubbles in the first place.(IE: QE)

The financial crisis of 2008 was a turning point in the history of the world, and for 13 years now I believe we turned in the wrong direction by enabling these abhorrent cheaters of the system.
