You'd think that America would have enough money to solve involuntary homelessness, help the voluntary homeless and help any one suffering with poor mental or physical health.

But the Muricans wouldn't accept it, cause Muricans would see it as "Commie".. probably..

No person should be homeless. Obviously less practical in poorer countries, but in the west? Much more should be done to help people, whatever the cause is. Be it drugs, mental health, no job or anything else. It's definitely not easy when drugs/mental health issues are at play though, but it still feels we do less than the minimum at times.

Most cities have homeless shelters and there are tons of people who refuse their help and rather live on the street. Mostly because you can't bring pets, alcohol, or drugs with you into the shelters.

If you want help it's there but you have to do your part.

Housing should be affordable and its pricing should go DOWN because of low wages. There should be a high-paying job for anyone who wants one. Period.

Minimum wage doesnt pay enough to even rent an apartment, so how does that help? Until wages are increased to balance the cost of living, a minimum wage job basically kills time and gives you pocket change. Not a solution.

Whenever wages go up, it drives the cost of living up too. Let's maybe start asking how we can bring the cost of living down without decreasing wages, rather than a wage increase that ultimately just ends up being "same situation, just with bigger numbers".

If companies care about profits, then what would make them more willing to lower costs rather than raise wages? Wouldn't we be in the same situation with lower numbers? Also, has the cost of living ever gone up to exactly cancel out wage increases?

That doesn't include food budget and assumes you have a second job working similar hours to your first. There's nothing there under heating either. Weird

Los Angeles has spent literally billions on their homeless problem, and what do they have to show for it?

A nice trophy with "World Champions" written on it for a sport only they compete in?

I have no idea. Depends how they spent it. If they just built houses and tackled homeless on the streets, that's just hacking at branches and not touching the trunk.

The answer is government jobs to deal with homelessness. Problem is you create a situation where those people don't really want to solve homelessness because then they get less/no funding and don't have a job anymore

Should, yes, but you'll find people who will unfortunately be literally impossible to home. We should have the resources to provide shelter to anyone who wants it though, even if it's just a little hotel room-sized space with common amenities.

It costs more tax payer money for a homeless person to be on the streets than to provide them with permanent housing.

Housing first works

Why would you want to live in a crackhouse project high rise if you can just go camp on the beach or in a public park with impunity from the city?
