Mask mandates are now gone...at least for now unless there's a huge uptick again in the winter time as millions are still unvaccinated and herd immunity hasn't been reached.

still for the summer time at least, mask mandates are now gone although some capacity limits remain. but if you look outside you will see lots of people are still wearing masks and lots of people not wearing masks but a recent poll suggests the majority of people, even though vaccinated are STILL wearing them with the delta variant out there.

as people know, the vaccine only protects yourself from getting sick and dying but you can still get it and pass it along.

but this also means you won't see a lot of karens and darrens anymore refusing masks although wearing them inside public spaces is still recommended such as airplanes

The WHO is still recommending even fully vaccinated people wear masks due to the Delta Variant. The CDC seems to disagree, but when it comes to my longterm health and well-being I'll take the more cautious of the two. Wearing masks in public really isn't that much of an imposition.

We're finally allowed to come into work without them, so I'm enjoying going maskless (while we can)

I was at first, but I kept seeing more and more people not wearing them (and I imagine many aren't vaxxed) so I stopped. Right now when I walk into a store, I think maybe 1/5 customers are wearing a mask.

Granted, nobody was obeying the fucking arrows either when those were a thing. Employees should have kicked people out over that.

The requirement here is over, but I still wear them according to the guidelines that were in place before.

Edit: also, I am not sure how the options are meant to be read, I have received a first shot, but too recently to say I am partially vaccinated, I think that takes 2 weeks or so?

Fully vaccinated and yes to maintaining mask-wear and social-distancing, despite the CDC essentially creating a reward system out of vaccinations, where every American feels they're entitled. States with the least vaccination rates have already created laws to "protect" their populations from a possible return of COVID prevention practices. The U.S. has climbed aboard a platter and is prepping to slide itself into an oven for Delta variant to have a harvest feast this Autumn.

Nope, I'm fully vaccinated. Wore the mask PROPERLY (unlike most..., over the nose) for over a year. Avoided all social interaction aside from grocery shopping and doctors.
It's fucking hot as hell right now, no way am I strapping a mask to my face if I'm not required to.
I'll go back to the mask in the fall, if things are getting bad again. But otherwise, I did my part. I'm gonna enjoy my mask-free summer.

I probably wouldn't mind wearing or not wearing a mask in public so much if there weren't people going hysterical on both sides over the issue.

Like, on the one side you have people who think wearing a mask means the government is tracking them with chips and trying to strip away their freedoms.

On the other you have people who break out in a fit of hysteria and act like you're basically a bioterrorist if you don't wear it.

Both are extremely annoying especially if the people in the latter group let people who do things like stick their nose out over the mask go scot-free. I've not no problem wearing a mask but getting hysterical at me if I don't and acting like a raging fanatic won't make me wear it.

In other words: "Sir/Madame. Please wear your mask" vs. "WEAR YOUR MASK! DO YOU WANT US ALL TO DIE YOU RIGHT-WING *******?!" One gets me wearing my mask. The other makes me want to just not visit your store or whatever.

Its not that odd. Theres one for 2 shots, one for one shot, and one for no shot The only other thing he probably could have added was was an on the fence option for the vaccine

On one of the first days of the mask mandates being removed (this was in May), I went out with some friends (all of us vaccinated). Place we went to had a sign that masks were not required for vaccinated people. Probably about 30% of the people were wearing masks. Our group, since vaccinated, were not wearing masks. Someone in our group said, after being inside for about a minute, "wow, it feels nice to not wear a mask anymore", and I, in a very sarcastic and obviously joking voice said, "yeah, but careful, if you don't wear one, people will think you voted for Trump", and she said "Good point" and put her mask on. I thought she did it just to punctuate my joke...but she left it on for the full 1.5 hour we were there...

Honestly, this explains a lot of the Yes votes. But kind of funny.

Which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about why the CDC's announcement was stupid. On that day, only around 30-31% of Americans were actually fully vaccinated. Obviously, your sample likely wasn't perfectly representative of the general population, but if everyone had listened to the converse of the CDC's announcement (that is, "everyone that isn't fully vaccinated needs to keep wearing masks"), you'd expect the exact opposite of what you saw.

yes because, even though I'm fully vaccinated, I'm a considerate, respectful person who doesn't know if they might be a Covid-19 carrier or not. Just because you have your shots doesn't mean that you can't spread Covid-19 to others who can't get the shots for medical reasons (such as cancer patients, etc.)

I'm not letting extroverts invade my personal space again. Masks on and stay away from me.

Actually, the primary takeaway from the CDC's announcement that fully-immunized people don't need masks is that that doesn't seem to be a major risk. There were a lot of questions about it, which kept them from updating recommendations sooner, but fully vaccinated people don't seem to have enough of a chance to transmit the disease for masking to be necessary (which is fantastic news).

Non-vaccinated. And I do wear the mask sometimes. Mostly at work, doctors appt, and when Im on the bus, though.

Masks are still required and I still wear them, but most of the people around me don't.

I kinda go with the flow despite being fully vaccinated. Feels odd not to wear one and I cannot help but wonder if those around me are simply not fully vaccinated, feel more comfortable wearing a mask, or not aware masks are not required if vaccinated. As a precaution I carry my vaccination card but I doubt I would be required to show proof when out and about.
