A couple weeks gluten free and and the difference is astounding

Made no other exercise or dietary modifications other then that and just living my life as I otherwise would.

Lifts are going up, six pack coming in, and reflux is getting under control

I've always thought my physical condition was not what I would expect given my lifestyle and now I know why.

You could say I haven't even reached my final form

Unless you have a diagnosis that requires it, you have no reason to be gluten free.

recently the price of milk has been slowly rising here.

it's now around $1.60 for a gallon, previously it was $0.98

i know, it's still cheap as hell compared to most other places, but still. you get used to the price and when it rises, you just get angry

Nice. I pay around $3.30 for fat free (protein shakes) and almost $4 for whole milk (for making yogurt)

I think gluten might be a migraine trigger for me, which is the main reason. Ive been wondering for a few months but also theres so many possibilities of what it could be.

Are you able to eat sourdough? I know some gluten intolerant people are okay with it because enough of the gluten is pre-digested by the culture, though people with actual Celiac still can't handle it.

I had been pretty low gluten just naturally from getting most of my carbs from oats, milk, rice and potatoes. Though I learned that unless oats are specifically produced and labeled gluten free, they're probably cross contaminated.

I was suffering from idiopathic acid reflux that did not improve with PPI treatment. Eventually the ENT said and referred me to a GI doc who immediately screened for celiac and turns out to be the culprit.

Good thing eggs are gluten free right?

I would hate life if I couldnt eat gluten.

The only problems come when eating out or going to other people's houses where I'm not in control of what's being served. There are so many little opportunities for contamination that most people wouldn't even realize, unless the meal being prepared is 100% gluten free (and that's a big ask for most people)

Yeah, I can make gluten free recipes easily enough, but I wouldn't cook for anyone with remotely serious Celiac in my kitchen. I've just used too much flour here and I know I can't guarantee there hasn't been cross-contamination.

^ that said, I never really had too many stomach or intestinal issues, which is apparently atypical. Perhaps the reason why it took so long to be diagnosed.

I have something wrong with my digestive system. So possibly lactose intolerant or gluten allergy. The majority of my diet is carbs since it's just faster to eat a ramen or make a sandwich. Been trying to eat healthier but money is/was an issue.

Interesting. Since you're starting to look into it, fyi, there is no such thing as a gluten allergy. Ailments fall into either

Celiac disease, an autoimmune condition that reacts specifically to gluten

Wheat allergy, a true allergy that reacts to non-gluten proteins in wheat, such that you can still eat other grains that do contain gluten (e.g. rye, barley)

Non-celiac wheat sensitivity, which is neither celiac nor an allergy. This category looks like it's due to FODMAPs which are present in many foods, including wheat. Eliminating wheat can improve digestive symptoms because eliminating wheat essentially forces you to consume fewer FODMAPs (and eat less processed food in general). You could eat pure gluten and still be fine because this isn't a reaction to gluten.

I already cut out most processed food since I stopped having cravings for a lot of stuff I was eating.
