I have no clue how it works in other canadian schools, but college age is 17 here so a 20 years old is 3 t
Years our of high school if everything is fine.

I mean.... I am 33 and I kinda don't want to go to prison so. I personally would not date someone 20 years older either, but I know a lesbian couple who have that age gap and they clearly like each other.(they are both adults before some idiot wants to be funny)

a 20 year age gap would land me in prison because im 32. However a 50 year old and a 30 year old can have a great connection, age does not make people compatible. A 10 year gap could work if me and the person have stuff in common, have similar goals and our personalities do not clash. Once again I am married to a woman older than me, not because shes older but because we relate, enjoy each others company, have things in common, we share similar goals.

age only matters in a relationship if one of the participants is a minor and that is illegal.

Personally, I don't know. I was hesitant to even date my girlfriend. Not because of the age gap per se, but more because of her innocence and lack of experience, while I am, well, me. Also, I have kids and am done, and I was worried she wanted kids. But we had been friends for 3 years and we just clicked. Luckily, she does not want kids of her own.

Theoretically could this happen with someone 4 years younger? It could. Whether likely or not doesn't really matter because we shouldn't judge people when we don't how their relationship works.

Im in the camp that says age doesnt determine compatibility. Its the least qualifying factor. As long as the two parties are adults that is all that matters. You should go out in public and look around, you would be surprised at who make up successful couples. You cant just say that it automatically is doomed because one party is older than the other, it isnt and that is foolish way to think.

What did I agree with though? I agreed that guys who do this on purpose suck. Check.

I disagreed that people with large age gaps can't work. I admitted that it can be less likely to work, but that is where non black and white thinking comes in.

I also disagreed with judging relationships we know nothing about.

So is there something else I agreed with? My response was simply more nuanced, as absolutes and rules generally have so many exceptions.
