Even if you've lived in a major city your entire life, it is STILL a red flag.

I assume it must be anxiety or depression that holds a person back from the freedom of driving a car.

unfortunately, a lot of people agree with tc.

It doesn't need to be that way. I'd rather not need a car because of how expensive it is and how bullshit the culture is that everyone needs one and the environmental concerns
but I'm just one guy and it isn't that visible of an issue now and I don't have much of a life without one.

I do know c how to drive.

I mean I like driving, but driving is incredibly irresponsible. East Asian countries pretty much prove that cars can be optional in a society, and the environment is better for it, and it also helps keep people employed or make stations hot spots that are easy to access.

We only don't have public transportation because of bureaucracy and the rich trying to keep the poor poorer. This isn't some like conspiracy theory. I've literally talked to people who've worked with Metro higher ups who purposely blocked projects that would make public transportation possible. In the media, we get some bullshit explanation about how nobody wants it because they use data from the currently garbage public transportation system, even though systems like Uber or Lyft has blown up in the last few years.

It's honestly more like if you're an adult and you don't recognize driving being a detriment to society, that's a major red flag

Excellent post right here. Too many people seem to be under the impression that they're absolutely supposed to have a car, even if they live somewhere with plenty of alternatives.

Personally I don't drive, as I live in a city/country with an excellent public transport network, and most of the places I frequently visit are within bicycle range, so I save a ton of money as well.
Literally the only situation in my adult life where having a car would've been more convenient is when I was moving into a new place, but fortunately I have friends willing to drive, and of course there's always the option of hiring movers.

If the reason is due to disability (i.e. seizure disorder) or even a developmental/intellectual disability, then I completely understand.

All other reasons are likely psychological, which is always a red flag (especially if UNTREATED).

Treated psychological disorders are fine, because you are attempting to seek help or are currently receiving it. Untreated disorders is a further example of a MAJOR red flag (a problem exists and you do not acknowledge it).

i drive. spoiler warning: i fucking hate it.
i'm in traffic for about an hour every day, and that's considered easy by people who are in traffic for two hours every day.
even when i'm not in traffic, i'm just constantly dealing with shit drivers nowadays. people that speed through reds, whip in and out of lanes with just barely enough room, steal the right-of-way, jack across three lanes of traffic because they don't want to miss their turn.
driving is utter dogshit. yeah, it's nice in those rare moments when there aren't too many people on the road, but most of the time it sucks ass.

These are nothing more than college essay arguments.

They do not hold up in actual real life social interactions as reasons why a person does not drive.

It's fine as long as you have reliable transportation for where you need to go. If you need to bother other people to drive you places, then that's a red flag.

I'm generally OK with driving, but I have a weird anxiety about leaving my car in unfamiliar places whenever I travel, after a bad experience of someone spraypainting my windshield when I returned to my car after a haircut.

It also depends on where you are in the world. I've been to places like China, Vietnam, and Thailand where driving is down right deadly cause there are no traffic rules. Take public transit and stay alive another day. Granted that I probably wouldn't want to drive in places like Manhattan, London or Paris either.

Know what else is a red flag? When no one is talking and someone's topic of conversation is try to tear others down. Ask yourself why you feel you need to do that.

^^^ Cant drive.

Nope. Now you face your attitude and why it is what it is. Cause when no one is talking, I try to say something that builds others up. I've even used the fact I can't drive to make others feel better about their position in life and things they're anxious about. I don't get pleasure from trying to get a one up on others. Why do you?

Alright, Ill build you up.

You should learn how to drive so that you dont rely on other people to move you around your entire life. That way you have more freedom and choices to have a better life.

....you don't even understand the concept of building someone up lol. Also, you're making assumptions on my life.

Sorry if you dont want to be built up.

Your idea of building up someone is telling them what they "should" do with their lives while having no personal insight. It kind of shows you never really play a real supportive role.

Nows the part where you be dramatic and act like I'm saying to never try to motivate others to do better.
