I've lost nearly 30 pounds over the last few months. Not even started working out or anything, just keeping track of how many calories I eat.

self-control and discipline are everything when it comes to weight loss
if bad habits put the weight on, forming and enforcing good habits will take it back off

When I lost around 75 lbs a few years ago the first 50-55 came off just from strict dieting and endurance walking. For the last 20 lb though I had to start running.

Basically every diet works. The tricky part is finding the one you can stick to forever. Adherence is everything.

The term "going on a diet" sets people up for failure before they've even begun, tbh

I'm basically still eating garbage, just less of it.

It probably helps that I didn't eat that badly to begin with. I tended to just constantly snack on my days off. Which is still the only time it's really an issue. If I'm working, I don't have an issue, but I feel constantly hungry when I'm not.

For a lot of people just making a couple of rules is enough to reverse the upward weight gain trend that plagues your 30s. For others more flexible dieting works.

E.g. "I just don't eat at trash restaurants like mcdonalds", or "I don't buy soda".

I find the easiest thing is just intermittent fasting, or as I called it my entire life before it became a trendy thing, the "forgetting to eat breakfast because you're always running late" diet.

I also find the longer I go without things the less I crave them. I stopped eating sugar for the most part and now sweets and chocolates do virtually nothing for me. A cupcake is never an exciting prospect.

I stopped drinking during the week and while I still enjoy beer, my desire to get through an entire 6-pack in one sitting is noticeably diminished.

Yeah, when I get motivated it isn't too hard. I need to get motivated again. >_>

I used to love working out but my back and knees are basically shot and that just makes it a lot tougher, gonna have to actually change my eating habits I suppose. :(

Yeah im almost back to my regular weight. I gained 20 pounds because of the calories of 4 to 6 beers daily which also increased my appetitie so i ate a bit more food as a result. I quit back in the middle of may and have lost 15 pounds. Back on my two meal a day or less diet with coffee and nicotine as appetite suppressors.

I dont eat healthy either. Yesterday all i had was three slices of pepperoni pizza. I dont remember eating anything else tbh.
