Only characters who mention animals is the idol chick saying Baba has a "horse face" and Yano rapping about being like a porcupine. All but confirmed when Odokawa went to the harbor and talked about "human nature". Like during flashback sequences you'll see the silhouettes of a human body part like a hand instead of an animal one. I also remember in the doctor's office there's an animal anatomy model thing but the shadow it casts on the wall behind it is human.
