Look at this guy

This fucker squats 700lbs.

Like you would not look at this guy walking around and think "ah yes, clearly an elite athlete several magnitutes stronger than the strongest guy at my gym".

His thighs bulge out so you can tell hes at least put some work in.

this is why it sucks to be a dude. You cant easily tell if a guy is well trained or not unless theyre either incredibly buff or in a place where its natural to go shirt and pants less

Powerlifters train for strength and speed, not size, so many of the guys under 240lbs dont look like they could be squat/deadlift kings. There was a 196lb high schooler in Louisiana that set the deadlift record across ALL weight classes a couple years ago with 730lbs. And theyre not allowed to use the steroids and suits that most lifters use. Ive personally witnessed another kid in 2010 squat 600+lbs that weighed less than 175lbs.

He does not look fat. Look at how his chest sticks out of his shirt, the dude has muscle, all i am saying is even though he is decently built, he looks like a wimp and i seriously doubt he can squat more than 500lbs given how much he probably weighs(looks like around 190lbs max) if he is squatting 700lbs that means he is deadlifting more than that. The 3 compound lifts scale from bench to squat and then to deadlift, if he was squatting 700lbs he should also he able to deadlift at the very least 700lbs...does that kid look like can deadlift 700lbs+? Absolutely not, that would put him at a better ratio than professionals like eddie hall and hafthor.

Yeah so after this deep thinking i am 100% convinced that kid does not squat 700lbs.

I am not saying it is not possible due to weight alone, but his weight is a red flag already, his proportions are not impressive either. A guy that weighs 175lbs and squats 600lbs+ is more than likely going to be a manlet with short limbs who has to leverage less of his limbs during the lift. This is not the case here, we have a relatively average looking kid with big thighs who looks like he weighs around 190lbs, a 700lb squat is highly suspect. Even a 500lb squat is suspect for a guy like that.

In powerlifting there really aren't any major official organizations. I know guys who go to new powerlifting meets and set world records for those promotions and get trophies etc. Its all bullcrap. So powerlifting champion doesn't mean much to me considering i can go to my local powerlifting gym that just opened and set a record for a bullshit promotion they just made up. Smartass.

Big problem in strongman too. Remember when that Vegan Strongman was all the rage on social media and vegans were certain that he was the strongest man ever because he had a world record in *checks notes..."longest 1,230 pounds yoke walk"? Like sure, if you make up a new standard for every exercise then someone somewhere is gonna be the strongest at it. Somewhere out there is a nobody who has the record for most stones chucked over his neighbours fence with a combined total of 10,000kgs or whatever.

That's a really contrived way to prove that vegans can be strong, they could just show that Clarence Kennedy happens to exist.

At least strongman has an official promotion that has been on television since like the 70s, there is no world series of powerlifting or whatever because unlike strongman which is pretty cool, powerlifting consists of the big 3 lifts only which take only a few seconds to perform a 1 rep max on. Its not exactly the most exciting thing, not much different than arm wrestling competitions, it just seems silly and it kind of is. I am impressed by this kids lifts but his physique is underwhelming, i know powerlifters typically do not have impressive physiques which is another thing that makes it lame. If i had to guess what that kid did for a living id say accountant or something like that, i would never guess he has a 1200+ combined deadlift and squat PRs...thats seriously insane.

Dude stop talking. You obviously dont know much about the sport. The USPA and IPF are world renowned powerlifting federations, and their records are the gold standard for the sport. While its true you can say you broke a record, it wont count unless performed at one of these meets under their rules.

I can't say I'm surprised. My cousin is a power lifter and pulls a decent amount and at most weighs 230. Not as much as that, but his personal best was 580/590ish?
Edit: I stand corrected... 610 deadlift, 468 bench, and 562 squat. He came first in his provincial tournament.

If I took the time to actually build up my strength, I could probably pull more than him, only because of genetics giving me a little boost, but I don't think I'd ever be able to pull 700.
