An HD port of the old PS2 version of this game for PS3. I clear step up from the previous game, Codename 47, you can see the bones where Io would eventually take the series in the World of Assassination trilogy. After only the events of the first game Agent 47 is already retired as a gardener at a church. The priest is kidnapped and 47 must return as an assassin to find his whereabouts, but must do some contracts for them in exchange. You travel to various locales around the world piecing together whos behind all of this and even fighting another failed clone in Mr. 17.

My understanding is this is one of the more difficult games in the series as the AI is super paranoid of everything and pretty much doing anything but slowly walking will result in alarms going off and you restarting the stage if youre going for a silent assassin ranking. It also has a really frustrating weapon acquisition system where you keep any weapons on you at the end of the mission, but you carry all of them with you into the next mission and only once you complete all the missions in a locale and return do your hideout do they get saved. HOWEVER! If you take any of those weapons with you and drop them in your next set of missions theyre permanently lost and have to be reacquired again. I eventually found a way around this by as soon as I finished a mission and saved, without quitting the menu I used the mission select to go back to the prologue and repeated that and mission 1 to save the weapon to my hideout

For the platinum you need to complete the story on Professional difficulty so no mid mission saves and nothing on your map except you, points of interest and the target. Any guards are left off the map and you have to know all their locations to make it through safely. Additionally you need to get a Silent Assassin ranking on at least 5 missions on Professional and acquire all the weapons in the game and save them to your hideout so they can be displayed all at once. Beyond that theres just some miscellaneous kill trophies like killing 18 people with a golf club or killing 47 people in a single mission, etc.

Overall I enjoyed it despite its frustrations, but I look forward to seeing how the series advances going forward.
