I've been working in the ICU since covid started so I know all of the trends...

I don't know if people outside the hospital realize it but covidnl is raging back. I'm getting as many icu admissions for severe covid as I did in peak covid times. Back then people were scared and quarantined at home. Right now everyone is full blown out in public with no masks.

It's gonna get worse.

Im in Louisiana where only 30 something percent are vaccinated. I can tell you that 100% of the covid patients in our ICU are unvaccinated. It's sad cuz this is all preventable now.

Again, and I will keep posting this, please do yourself and everyone around you a favor and get vaccinated if you haven't.

A mild case of covid left me with a damaged heart and ED. If you like having a functional dick, go get the jab. If you like not having lingering chest pain, go get the shot.

i just hope that me having covid before and being fully vaccinated with moderna will keep me safe from this variant. like i'll keep wearing my masks and social distance from people but that didn't help me when i got covid back in January

I'm sure it's possible and had a great deal to do with your local population.

The hospital I'm at has shrank the covid patients to about 6 rooms on the pulmonary unit.

Not saying the numbers aren't going to head back up but I'm pretty sure we aren't going be dealing with the amount of beds dedicated to covid patients we saw last November

When they are numbers it's hard to feel bad for them.

But imagine the fear people have when they come in anxious, struggling to breath on high amounts of oxygen and the icu doctor is asking them questions about how if they weren't able to make decisions for them self who they would want making medical decisions and if they'd be okay with a breathing tube and cpr. You feel for these patients and certainly don't make them feel bad about not getting vaccinated. You just shake your head when your outside the room thinking man what a terrible situation that was so easily preventable.

It's just so sad.

Over 97% of hospitalizations, and essentially 100% of deaths, are from unvaccinated people now.

Sorry, but I'm fully vaccinated and gonna continue to go maskless as long as my area allows it. If the anti-vaxxers don't like it then they can get the vaccine themselves. And if I asymptomatically give it to them then... well...

It hasn't left yet.

Absolutely no one wears masks around here anymore. And I know people in my area aren't 100% vaccinated.

I am vaccinated and I still wear a mask. People actually give me dirty looks at this point. I feel like an awkward criminal for wearing a mask.

This may sound evil but I hope they get it just for being assholes.

I'm vaccinated and still wear my mask and limit my going out.

I was food shopping one day, I might have been one out of maybe 3 people wearing a mask.
I walked by a couple with no masks and they asked me why I was still wearing it. They said I should just get vaccinated. I was mad and about the start trouble. Instead I started coughing real loud and heavy. The panic in their faces as they backed up and walked away.. Not so big and bad now huh??

The problem is a lot of the hicks have kids or dependant elders.

And vaccine immunity is not absolute especially if your health is poor.

And the more Covid spreads the more likely variants will emerge with greater and greater ability to bypass vaccine protection.

They shouldn't even get the same care at this point. Choosing not to get a vaccine is choosing to put yourself and everyone else at risk. Why should everyone else making the safe good decision be subsidizing this terrible one.

Yeah, it really says a lot about people if they don't understand that you can still catch Covid even if you're vaccinated.

And these people are effecting others in ways beyond just having covid and spreading it. These so many covid icu admissions right now it's extreme taxing on the system. It spreads everyone thinner. Healthcare workers are more exhausted both physically and mentally. All of our ecmo machines are not in use for covid patients which means if someone else needs it we cant provide that service. And that's the case for all surrounding hospitals with ecmo capabilities.
