part of me wants to take the second option, but I have so many intrusive thoughts, I fear what I'd do with my new found power.

Id be extremely tempted to literally alter everything in existence, delve through history, and would instinctively bar myself from doing so for a set time ~ lest my future self comes and whoops my ass for not doing it, or reality itself literally implodes.

Also, this would make you extremely lazy

I'm hung up on the "can't control the outcome of the action" part.

What exactly does that mean.

Like, if I chose "Always be able to kick a football 65 yards pin straight in any weather", where does "can't control the outcome of the action" come into play?

yeah i guess stuff like intrusive thoughts aren't what you would act on in this case. i guess i have things like rational goals in mind. like if you want to quit a habit, or ask someone out, or stop procrastinating.

let's just say it's the part of your brain that has your best interest at heart

you can choose to always kick a ball the most correct way, but you can't choose how far it goes other than that without altering your strength

Wait wait wait. So it would just be normal stuff I think of? What if I thought "I'm going to pick the winning lotto numbers" would that not work? Trying to understand the limits lol.

winning the lottery is not really an action imo, it's more of a consequence of an action. but no you can't do that in this scenario.

Lame, but fine.

I create world peace through a single unifying signature on a paper document outlining said details of the peace.
