Yeah I was lost. I already have a hard time with basic MMO mechanics like tracking buffs/debuffs/which abilities interrupt or halt or suspend or freeze because those all have to be separate actions with separate consequences against separate bosses at separate stages of the battle for some reason.

But BDO man wtf lol there were so many things to try to navigate.

The minimal HUD is nice, yeah. All the spell/healthbar/skillbar stuff hides itself when it's not needed.

Still, I'm not really digging the skills my necromancer has. I was thinking more of a "summon zombies to fight with me" sorta character, but this one's focused more on minimal minion support and more on defense and health. One ultimate even rezzes three characters, so it's a "life and death" sorta thing that isn't as interesting as a summoner character. I wonder if summoners were available from the beginning and I just missed 'em, or I did no research and picked whatever. Probably the latter.

Warden gets a bear companion >_> But I mained a Warden and I don't remember it being that great for anything.

I think when I played (or, more specifically, attempted to play) Pillars of Eternity, I was a ranger with a bear or something. I like having minions to do my bidding, but developing these skills just feels so...shallow. Maybe I'd have more fun if I power-levelled at dolmen gates or something. At least I'd unlock some of the skills I want, like that skeleton mage and bone totem.

Finally joined the Mages Guild and they want me to find lorebooks. I don't get credit for the ones I found all along the way, though? Lame. I thought those were going into my key item hammerspace or something.

That doesn't sound right... but I always just join as many guilds as I can when I roll a new char so maybe I didn't encounter it.

Also was gonna say there are mods for adding books and skyshards to the map but if you're on PS4 that might not be an option lol

Also, finally got to LV20 and got some duds that don't look like complete trash. It's a costume, but whatever. I suspect most people wearing cool stuff have costumes instead of mismatched jank.

One time I spent $150 on the crown crates when I was drunk. I got a cool halloween horse that when you get on it you take your head of and it turns into a flaming pumpkin. I'm a fool.

I'm coming to the realization that, after a week, every single quest I've done has sucked. There's little to no heart in any of this and most are just fetch quests. I guess the mission to save the chick who was imprisoned by the "friendly" Khajiit god was alright, just due to being more involved than others, but it's a C+ at best. Where are the Whodunit-tier missions? Maybe I should join the Thieves Guild somewhere to have a little mischievous entertainment.

Whew, soloed a dolmen gate and got a few okay pieces of equipment...to destroy in research. Is there any big reward for collecting a full set of equipment in a region? There's fifty pieces or something to this Graftwood (?) area and I've collected a good number.

Okay, did some dolmens to level up a smidge, and now I'm going back to Auridon (2nd Summerset island) instead of this forest I ended up in somehow. Have way too many quests to visit areas I don't want to go to yet, like "visit Riften". Why the hell would I go to Riften when I'm 10,000 kilometers away, let alone in this dude's donkey cart? Get real.

All the quests have been garbage so far, yeah. The ones with this Khajiit Razum-dar have been tolerable (mostly 'cause I like Khajiits, obvoiusly), but a lot are boring fetch quests. Just did one where I had to fix a frog race, lmao. At least the scenery is good.

I'll do Morrowind stuff eventually.

There's a fair amount of generic quests but there's a lot of fun dumb shit to them at the same time. Like there's one where you have to catch a lizard to compete in a lizard race in the desert, it's a simple thing but damn if it wasn't entertaining to watch.

Terribad quests aside, I've actually been enjoying Auridon's scenery. Did a few quests to save towns along the coast, then dumped magical thermite into a lighthouse brazier to sabotage pirates' plans.

Mostly just hung around dolmens yesterday to wait for allies to godstomp Dagon's minions. It's a shame only slotted abilities level up properly, 'cause I have a ton of necromancer (healing-related) ones that need to grow.

I'm gonna start going into my journal and abandoning quests I don't feel like doing right now. Still going to have backtracking to do, but at least I'm not going to miss tasks right in front of my face, like this blind dude in a dungeon who wants a curative plant.

I really liked Auridon. The two next areas after are wood elf forests. I dont care much for their lore so I found it very boring & extremely so when it came to fetch quests.

Did some of the quest with this mage guy who wanted a Secret Weapon to end a war, but his sister's lackey ended up releasing a bunch of dragons into Elsweyr. Those poor kitties. =(

Yeah, but as soon as I got to Auridon, a quest whisked me away to Grahtwood, so now I have a bunch of quests in one area, some in another, plus others that wanted me to go far away (Vvardenfell, Riften, etc.). Twenty-five might've been a fine limit when the game first started, but with so many random quests available now, it seems a poorer fit.

Someone needs to explain what the hell I'm looking at here. In this area with tons of wild bears and tigers, I found these weird doppelgangers all standing around like putzes.

A random enemy in this dragon questline dropped some good swag. I might go to Solitude eventually so I can get the scrying stuff and make good on these hints I've acquired. They expire in 3-4 weeks.

Hmm, Prince Noemon showed up after I killed High Kinlady Estre, Dagon's veiled queen. I thought he died earlier when he tried to steal the orrery powerz and turned into a monster chonker. Maybe I'm misremembering...or didn't play in the expected order, haha.

It took over 100 quests and multiple regions, but we finally got our first GOOD quest! Wasting Away -- wherein you explore the sunken city of Corgrad and learn its history with its alleged lord and some squatters. I think I genuinely enjoyed this one...for the most part. Good job, Bethesda!!!

I can kinda understand why someone would get hooked, but if I had to stop and take tally of all the things I liked and disliked, I'd be disappointed. It's certainly a good-looking, expansive world, but it feels shallower than Skyrim in several places.

Here's part of the quest I was complaining about earlier. You start in the north, go south to collect three things, then go back north, go south again for three MORE things, then go north, just to learn your destination is in the south. If I was king of this country, I'd put a friggin' express highway right through this trash country to avoid some of these problems.



...and then, after all that searching, the evil guy gets ripped apart by some random mid-boss. lol

I love Dwemer stuff...usually. Since my Khajiit feels perpetually underpowered (I rely on the graveyard DEF-breaching effect a lot), fighting those damn dwarven spheres SUCKED. In Skyrim, you could just use a penetrating crossbow bolt from halfway across the room, but none of that here. =(

I'm eager to get to Solitude to see if its sights are better than Summerset. I'd be surprised if they were, honestly -- this is really an idyllic sorta place.
