So, I dont mean, what are your favorite games?. I mean games that have helped get you out of a no-gaming slump.

Gaming has always been my main hobby, so its always pretty depressing when I lose the will to play anything. I know a few members here have gone through the same thing.

For those who have been through this; what games got you out of this slump?

I went on an immediate slump after beating FFVII. That had such high peaks for me, that I was immediately bummed upon getting the platinum.

The only thing that comes to mind for me is Celeste when I discovered it last year, which led to me playing some other indie games. But Im back in a phase of not being that motivated to play games in general right now.

can't say I ever lost the will to play anything, but both Mega Man 11 and Bloodstained helped reaffirm I truly do love those types of games.

Battletech. It's the first game I've played for more than a couple of hours in awhile that isn't casual/mobile or MTG:Arena.

i know i've definitely had those slumps but can't remember if certain games were responsible for "reigniting" interest or i was playing games at a normal rate and just got hooked

but i really felt that magic again with Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze. Returns was more of that "reigniting" feeling because i was more aware of Tropical Freeze and had been waiting for it to go on sale but Returns I just checked out on a kind of whim and I feel like it was the first time in a while I got into a game that much.

I go through phases where I may not play much, but it's usually because I've gotten sucked into something else at the time. I don't think I've ever just not wanted to play games or thought there was a chance I'd stop playing altogether.

I've had a lot of slumps over the years, but I can't think of any one game that pulled me back in. Those slumps were usually during really bad depressive episodes and had nothing to do with the games themselves.

I never really had a gaming slump for the first 25 years of my life. That was basically my only hobby.

Then around 2014, I got much higher standards for what I wanted to play, and that's when I really started a major trend of only playing the first hour or so of a game before quitting on it out of boredom.

But then 2017 happened, and I got to play Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and Horizon Zero Dawn back-to-back-to-back and I was like "yeah ok, turns out they can still make some really fuckin' good games."

Except now I'm back in a big gaming slump again. The only game I've bought from this year has been Mario Golf and that was...... vastly disappointing, to say the least.

Only happened to me once, but it was when I was like 19 and went through that "I'm an adult, I don't have time for games" phase. It wasn't a game that got me out of it, but the realization that I was being dumb

Gaming is basically dead to me at this point. Occasionally I'll play old games I love, but I basically have no interest in anything new a this point. I think Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice is probably the most recently released game I've played.

I've never had a slump that's kept me from playing anything. I've certainly had slumps where I've fallen back on just playing a single MMO or whatever. But my absence of playing video games is to play other video games.

I've never had a slump for gaming generally, but I've certainly had slumps for certain series. Nuzlocking really helped me get excited about mainline Pokemon games again.

Currently in such a slump but mobile games are still really fun for some reason, so I guess that?

I don't know if I really have one, but I will say that I was glad RDR2 still showed that Rockstar could still do some of their best work ever on the main SP campaign despite the massively increased focus on continuous online MP content since GTA5.
