P5 haters are absolutely insane

Sure, it isn't the best game of all time, but it's up there for best JRPG ever

I think a lot of people just get hung up on the high-school-simulator aspect and don't like that part

I feel like, if P5 is "up there for best JRPG ever," then it's a weak genre, overall (not saying that's the case, only that I think it would be if that statement was true).

I played the others, though, so I had some idea of how the game's structure would be like, just not its content, and I found that content to be either disappointing or bad.

The genre is weak at this point tbh, every other genre has integrated the aspects in more fun ways

But I still think classic JRPG is fun and P5 is one of the crown jewels

I dont understand "worldbuilding". I always see people bring it up when discussing works of fiction as if it's a very important metric. I really dont care about the intricacies of a fantasy world all that much.

for what it's worth, I did enjoy P3 and P4 back in the day, but playing through P5, it felt like nothing mechanically had changed (outside of recruiting demons, iirc, but that was already in Nocturne).

the story and characters didn't resonate with me, but I was more disappointed with how much the combat felt the same.

I hear that Royal has better dungeon stuff, but I dunno if I want to get into an extended version of something that I didn't originally enjoy.
