You have 5 different methods of reducing the effect based on the Pokemon's nature, problem being you cant see the nature until you've reduced the shadow bar by 2 stages. Meaning you are flailing around blindly using the different methods until you find one that works. All the while the Pokemon has only 1 move available until it's completely purified (though XD fixed this somewhat by creating different Shadow type moves) and randomly becomes confused with all the usual bells and whistles of confusion.

Oh and you have to do this for every available Pokemon, of which there's only 35.

Just use the glitch to purify your pokemon while you do something else (like go to work/school). That's what I did.

I agree It's pretty damned good otherwise, great graphics and smart AI. It's just that the Shadow system kind of kills the momentum by forcing you to buy useless crap like incense to purify your Pokemon.

I enjoyed it in Colosseum, it was a nice little mechanic that added a bit of extra depth to gameplay

In XD, they just completely overloaded the game with shadow Pokmon everywhere, and made it a chore to play

You're supposed to keep playing and use them with the handicap (not nearly as bad in XD).
Everything is a double battle so you can always have a purified pokemon out at the same time.

Yeah it's pretty annoying if you're fishing for a specific nature like on the legendary beasts.

Still a fantastic game, even with the flaws. Would love GS to make a third one, because they clearly have put more love into Pokemon than Gamefreak has for quite a while.

this. the gc pkmn games are proof you dont need to reskin the same old pkmn formula and just make a new story

Also, couldnt you use synchronize or did that not do the nature effect yet?

Nope, Synchronize didn't have that effect until Gen 4. (Colosseum and XD were Gen 3)

The purification chamber in XD made purifying a joke though once you got a decent lineup of non shadow Pokemon. Eventually you can do up to 9 or 10 at once. Colosseum is painful though if you're going for a full purify run though.
