And my god, did they drag out the Shinra building. I thought the filler wasn't too bad for most of the game, but that was something fucking else.

the only thing I disliked was that the boss before sephiroth looked way too much like Darkside from kingdom hearts

I liked it for the first half, but the Drum was the first time I felt like the game was pure filler. And some of the bosses in that bit could have had far less health than they did. Jenova becoming invincible was just obnoxious, the Motor Ball was so simple that it should have had half the amount of health, and Whisper Bahomet was really just a big crock of shit.

Yes it was. Left a sour taste in my mouth. I was so impressed with the remake aside from the FF13 tier changing destiny garbage.

Apparently you have to redo the entire last section if you die while fighting Whisper Bahomet. I'm honestly not sure I'd have finished the game if that had happened lol.

It's just such a shame because they nailed the entire rest of the game. The plate dropping was legitimately heartbreaking, the Honeybee Inn segment was top notch, and seeing the destruction caused by the reactor bombing was cool.

Yupppp. I died to Sephiroth and I don't know what happened, but I ended up right before you go into the dimension so I had to do that entire sequence again. I lost an hour of progress. I was so mad. I don't know if it's designed that way or if I accidentally clicked return to last check point. But after I died I went back inside and died again to those three whispers and it made me start over before the dimension again. So if you lose to Bahamut it considers that an entire battle and you start over. I was going to give up but I said fuck it and tried one more time and won.

My personal theory is that FF7 Remake is a literal name. At the end of OG FF7 you see Aerith communing with the mako (much like at the beginning of OG FF7 as well). I think the END of OG where you see Aerith is the same scene as seen at the beginning of FF7 Remake. Aerith knows what happens in the OG. Completely. At the beginning of the OG she already knew she was going to die. Now, she knows far more.

I think this is a time loop. Aerith learns new things every loop and is continuing the loop in order to save the humans of the world. At the end of OG we see an overgrown Midgar and its heavily assumed humanity has died out. In FF7 remake it shows this scene with Red XIII stating, essentially, thats what happens if they fail. They FAILED in FF7. Humanity still ended up dying out.

Now to Zack. Aerith enormously would impact those nearest to her in a time loop. The Zack we see survive at the end of the remake is in a different loop. The logo it shows during it could explain this. I would assume it was an earlier loop where she originally tried to make Zack the hero and he ultimately still failed. Or, its the next loop and this loop failed. Who knows?

Just a theory. Its fun to think about. Sephiroth is trying to remake the timeline at the same time Aerith is. Whos gonna win out?

Yeah, I knew the ending would involve some kinda time travel and Zack was still alive when I went in, so that part didn't surprise me. I just disliked how they went about it. It frames the planet as an antagonist which isn't something I love.

I watched it. A lot of what they talked about seemed sort of obvious to me, but I did know the time travel stuff ahead of time and there was some interesting speculation about the sequels. I also haven't watched Advent Children or played any of the dozen spin-off games, so it was sort of educational in that regard. Stuff like the three pain in the ass whispers being the Advent Children dudes.

I also didn't bother doing all of the Chadley stuff, so I was completely unaware he was an android.

Oh, I meant to mention that I particularly loved the revelation that Rufus is behind the main Avalanche organization and the implications that could lead to with Barret in the later game.

When Sephiroth showed up immediately after the first reactor I knew it was going to be bad and it just kept getting dumber and dumber and dumber any time he or the whispers showed up. That segement where they attack the sector seven slums and nobody throughout the rest of the game mentions whatsoever that an army of a million ghosts attacked midgar and then vanished was so badly done that until the very end of it I thought it was some kind of weird dream sequence Cloud was going to wake up from

In fairness, most people can't see the Whispers. Barret assumes they're Shinra weapons which is probably the best explanation given what they know.

thats how they behave in other parts of the game but during that scene you can see people freaking out and panicking and cowering from them while barret and the others are fighting them
