I'm pretty sure I've had it my entire life. I don't remember ever not having it. I just assumed people always heard a piercing whine when it was too quiet. I think I was in my 20s before I learned tinnitus was a thing.

Literally fades into the background after a while. I've had it for eight years (that I've noticed) and nowadays I only notice it when somebody else mentions it. Like right now. It's still there, it's still loud, but I only realize it's there when I think about it.

It's like having an AC window unit or something. It's loud but you get used to it.

i've had it since i was a kid and a shithead doctor blew a hole in my eardrum during an examination, i turn the tv on and set the sound where i can hear it and not focus on the ringing.

About the same for me. Think it came from the one time I forgot hearing protection when I went out shooting and said fuck it ill just shoot my 22 they aint that loud.

I only hear mine when I read the word, so this topic triggered my tinnitus. It can last for 30 mins or 2 weeks

I hate tinnitus topics because then I start to notice my own tinnitus. Only thing that has helped for me to lower the volume (even then just a tiny bit) is losing weight. Ginko biloba, that stupid skull tapping, beep/white noise videos didn't really help.

Damn I'm really glad your brain learns to filter out the ringing noise. I'm honestly getting a ton of anxiety from this topic, just thinking about what it would be like. A persistent noise like that that I have absolutely no control over would likely drive me insane, literally. I am so glad the people in here are saying they don't hear it most of the time lol.

I usually dont hear it unless its silent. I sleep with the fan on.

You really hear it if you are in a room with little noise, you are stressed and/or you remember you have it.

You're over thinking it. Just like how your body reacts to extreme pain and builds a tolerance to it as a stimulant, so too will your body adjust and even adapt to persistent ringing in your ears. If a silly thing like that bothers you, nobody tell him what happens to your eyesight after 50 lol

not to scare you, but almost all chronic tinnitus gets worse over time, slowly. Most people get exacerbations and it gets loud for a couple months, then retreats close to previous baseline.

Exacerbations, I have found, can sometimes be dealt with acoustic neuromodulation. This is actually backed by science

Same with me, it doesn't bother me unless I'm trying to go to sleep. If I have my fan, I'm fine. But if I'm on vacation or something, it can be hard depending on how quiet it is.

Got mine from going to rock concerts without ear protection, Soundgarden in particular is the one that really messed my ears up.

I was constantly aware of it for a few years at least. Mostly cause as soon as I realized I wasnt noticing it my dumb ass brain would be like "huh my ears quit ringing" and then they'd start ringing

I had one of those sound systems so loud it blew womens clothes off in my lowered 92 Jetta with mirror tint windows back in the day lol. 2 10s and a 15 in that trunk.
