I don't blame people, back then some game shows would give answers ahead of time to contestants that would give the show "better ratings" (like good looking ones or some celebrity that needs good PR). When some of those game shows got caught, they called them "study guides" to help them prepare for the show. Jeopardy was one of those game shows that was trying to fight back against that kind of practice, but some still believe it to be true. I know for certain it is not true because my sister was actually on the show (took her about a year and a half to get called to appear on the show after the initial interviews and mock games she participated in).
