Republican Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama said he wore body armor to Donald Trump's January 6 rally in Washington, DC, after being tipped off about "risks" in the days leading up to the event, Slate reported.

"I was warned on Monday" January 4 "that there might be risks associated with the next few days," Brooks told the Slate politics writer Jim Newell.
"And as a consequence of those warnings, I did not go to my condo," he added. "Instead, I slept on the floor of my office. And when I gave my speech at the Ellipse, I was wearing body armor.

"That's why I was wearing that nice little windbreaker. To cover up the body armor."

They need to subpoena this guy ASAP to figure out who warned him and how involved he was.

Once again it comes as no surprise that if a hypothetical mass execution of democratic reps took place, Republicans were not only aware they'd be watching with glee.

When one side so blatantly tries to destroy it, there should be an investigation the moment it happened at the very least.

It really is fucked up how this plan was
Trick a bunch of maniacs in killing your opposition
Call in the Military to remove them once you're sure the opposition is dead
Go on media and cry crocodile tears about being powerless as your opposition was beaten, raped, humiliated and executed one by one by these maniacs
??????
Republican hard right wing rule forever in America

So not to stir the pot, but do people still actually buy the Capitol Police claims that they had no idea or warning something could happen?

Because apparently Romney was told by Angus King who was told by Mark Milley that there was the possibility of violence.

So if the Capitol Police really didn't know, either they specifically and intentionally were not told or specific members of their leadership actively chose to not do anything about it.

Proof? Body armor tends to be bulky enough that you can pretty easily notice it unless it is winter and everyone has a winter jacket on.

The rank and file that had to defend the place? Probably not. The leaders? They had to know.

Sounds like a very vague warning tbqh
It was pretty much common sense that attending this rally presented some level of risk with or without the whole storming the capitol aspect

On one hand in used to people not taking threats super seriously to the point od reporting them however not coming forward right after with whatever info he had is fucked.

Example of me saying I'm used to it. My school got a false bomb threat like at least twice a year. Took them like a week to wrangle a confession out of anyone that even kinda knew who was guilty. I was standing in the lunch line and had just paid for a slice of pizza (we had pizza hut deliverrd daily to our school) when the announcement came over the intercom. Lunch lady asked me if I was gonna go and I'm just like ya gonna give me the pizza I paid for? Then I was running through the halls screaming "we all gonna die motherfucker!!!" With a slice of pizza in hand.

I've also seen people take threats of a school shooting not so seriously cause they assumed the person was talking out their ass. Not good. Should always take it seriously but even if you dont come foward with any info at least after it happens to help catch everyone involved

Yeah, but being warned about it beforehand means he had contact with someone who was either planning it or was he was involved with people who planned it.

Yup, I'm just thinking along the lines of the best way to get him to reveal details.

It just seems like he wasn't given any type of specific info on what was going to happen, especially since the added security steps he took weren't relevant to what the threat ended up being

I think wearing body armor is very much relevant because people were storing guns at a nearby hotel for 1/6.

Yup, and while there were no guns there that I know of(I somehow doubt there weren't any), there were several weapons brought in.

Not sure, but...

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/january-6-capitol-riot-firearm-guy-reffitt/

According to this article, at least 4 people have charges related to firearms that day at the capitol.

And yeah, there's probably not going to be a way to know how many people actually brought guns because the vast majority of them were just allowed to leave.

Didn't the guy that put his feet up on a desk for a picture have a cattle prod?

I think he had a stun gun, but someone definitely had a battery powered cattle prod and used it against police officers.
