*basically my

I havent spoken to him much over the last few years, but he's the reason I have a career now, basically.

Id done work for him ages ago, and a years ago hed brought me into the team he was working in as a temp to fill in for someone who was on leave because he knew I was a hard worker. While I was working there he helped me discover an aptitude a fairly niche discipline, and helped me improve my skills. Now Im in a well paid permanent role I love, and its all thanks to his mentor ship.

He was also the social lynchpin in our team - hed get into the office an hour and a half early and then get anyone he could to go out and grab a coffee with him. Friday nights were always down at the pub. Things were a lot quieter after he retired, and a lot more boring. My liver and kidneys were probably healthier though, lol.

He was a real larger than life character, never afraid to be crushingly blunt, but it was always constructive criticism and motivated by a desire to help people be the best they can be.

He was an absolute deadset fucking legend, Ill miss him.

He did, he was a legend in his field. The number of people Ive run into who either know him well or know him by reputation is incredible.
