The ps2 is older now than the nes was when the ps2 came out, I think. And back then people called the nes a classic console

IMO PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Dreamcast are all on the borderline, predating the chaff of modern but more advanced than their predecessors.

PS2/Xbox/Gamecube are officially classics now. The graphics style of that period has become an art style all it's own, which tells you that they are already considered classics.
