Like, Humanity is the woman and God is the abusive codependent boyfriend who insists that she is NOTHING without him, and throws hissy fits and hits her whenever she doesn't do exactly what he wants and then is all "sorry babe, I'll never do that again!" and then goes and does it again.

Meanwhile, Satan is like the sassy girlfriend who tells her that she doesn't need a man like that in her life and is perfectly capable of getting by on her own.

Like, who comes off as the real villain here?

Its not weird, its intentionally trying to fear you into submission.

You better do what this book says or god will kill us all! You better behave or you will be tortured for eternity!

Even Job who didnt even do anything wrong suffered because that god is a prick.

He was. And he could have stopped it by not causing it. But he still made that poor old man work so hard.

God wasn't supposed to be a "good guy", at least in the old testament. He was the almighty lord and you better bow your head in fear (and praise if you have any strength left over).

Whether the events happened or not, a story is a story. If you tell someone of events that happened in the past you're still telling a story. A story still has to be interesting if its worth telling someone.

There's many professional theories that the Bible was written by many authors over several hundred years.
These authors have different writing styles and views about God.

The great flood isn't even original to Judaism, it goes back thousands of years at least to the ancient Sumerians where it was Enlil who did it because humanity was disturbing his peace and quiet. Even Inanna thought it was a horrible thing to do, and she tried to kill Gilgamesh when he turned her down because of all the horrible things she did to previous mortal lovers.

"Why didn't the people of Pompeii just move then"
why cant I ask why the people of Pompeii didnt just move? The answer is it was unexpected and they didnt know. For this story Im asking why god didnt not do a bad thing. The answer is because he isnt all loving and caring like people like to claim. You can ask questions about stories.

You're allowed to ask questions about any story. But worst question one can possibly ask is "Why did this person do the thing that wouldn't allow the story to happen in the first place"

So it's bad to ask why someone murdered a person? This is a weird take. Characters in real and made up stories still need motivation for their actions s beyond "so the story can take place".

I mean people still live in the modern Pompeii now. Volcano is still active technically. Maybe humanity is just slow.

No no, that's different. That's giving a motive of why the person did the thing. I'm pretty sure Noah's Ark story gave God a motive to flood the earth. The thing that would be similar to what i'm talking about is "Why did the person just not murder the other person"

The apocypha talks about how much of humanity at that time were the descendants of Cain so they were all sinful and deserved to die, naturally and they had corrupted the children of Adam's not-evil children, and of renegade angels led by Samyaza who fornicated with human women and created horrible monstrous giants (the Nephilim).

Just...pointing out how crazy it is.

God has a name, Yahweh. Its weird to call him god considering how many gods there are, and YHWH even fights other gods in the bible. He has a wife named Asherah, and there were other gods in the hebrew lore before monotheism took over, and Yahweh followers killed the others/conquered the others and proclaimed him the only god.

Yahweh was the storm god, before monotheism. So yes he caused the flood.
