If you use proper form the act of keeping your back straight as you do pushups ends up working your core and lower back.

man i thought doing 200 every other day was overkill. also it's not good to work your muscles everyday. this guy looks young tho so probably doesn't affect him yet.

No it isn't. Most guys can't do 50 good push ups in one set. 1000 push ups in 16 hrs is a lot. Even if you are physically fit and can do 50 in one setting you can't expect yourself to consistently do 60 an hour and not feel sore and overwork your muscles.
