Texas and Florida might be able to keep things afloat except Florida is constantly in need of federal money to pay for hurricane damage and Texas infrastructure would collapse because they we deregulate the shit out of everything like they did their power grid.

Leaving red states to utilize their fossil fuel reserves without any sort of federal environmental restrictions would accelerate climate catastrophe. It would have immensely negative impacts not just on the country, but the planet.

But also the logistics would be a nightmare too

You know how they say the President is just a figurehead?

I think the Republicans are just a punching bag.

The more you go at them, the more it reinforces this system. Do you care that Republicans back any number of corporations run by Democrats? Do you care that those businesses are largely fueling the machine that drives your attack on the Republicans? Can you fathom why that would be ideal? See, its a vicious cycle. I think... if were all unified against a common adverse element, then we wont unify about real issues (environmental issues, actual economic issues, whatever the hell is going on with Apple & Google, etc) ~ and this allows them to maintain control by filtering information through either side of the equation. The same stands true for the Republicans who go hard against Democrats.

Do they realize that most illegal immigrants are coming into the US in cars & planes? Do they realize that saying racist things but claiming they arent a racist just makes them look insane? Do they realize that storming the capitol with torches & pitchforks is stupider than anything the Democrats or Independents have done in the past hundred years or so? Does any of this make sense to you?

The biggest political talking points of the Republican leadership seems to be finding scapegoats to blame everything on, rather than tackle the issue. If things went bad for them, theyd either blame Mexicans for coming into their country or the liberal side for their problems.

It's already split into 50, which is why the rights and regulations of individual states (as well as their equal representation in the Senate) are such important parts of the structure of this country. We're not just one country, we're 50 smaller states combined together to create a country. The difference in state laws already accomplishes much of what splitting the country in such a way would accomplish.

If you had the United Republic of America and the United Democracy of America, the two factions would simply go to war with each other to try and impose their respective wills.

I dont necessarily think thats true.

All the Liberal side really wants is for the Conservative side to go away and fuck off forever, so if theyre gone from their day to day life theyd now be able to just live their lives in peace and prosperity.

On paper the Conservative side wants the exact same thing, but I think theyll soon find out what their world would truly be like with this freedom they think they want.

takes time to build weapons, likely would take years. in the meantime the "southen US" would be colapsing under its own weight and looking for a target to pillage and deflect blame to. why wouldn't they attack the "northern US" claiming heavenly mandate or something equally stupid?
