The heroin poppies are harvested in October so the mujahedeen are gearing up for that now. The Afghan winter is harsh and paralyzes the country until Spring. Come Spring, when the madrassas let out, thousands of fighters will stream into the country and join the mujahedeen as part of the regional equivalent of Spring Break. Fighting against the Taliban will begin next Spring. Calling it now.
