With just a smidge more speed and access to Moonblast, Gloom comes out on top. Machop would have to tank the Moonblast or quick claw it's way to a first turn Fire Punch.

??? Gloom outspeeds has decent special attack I'm pretty sure it doesn't get one shot and Machop has abysmal special defense.

I mean yea this isn't a guaranteed victory every time for gloom but I think it wins more times than it loses.

It won't kill him, but gloom can moonblast and kill him as well. There are tons of options.

Meanwhile, Machop only has a couple of viable options, and if they are not on the move list, Machop is left hoping the STAB makes up for the resistance (It doesn't) or that it has a normal type move with a significant amount of power.
