I really regret not getting the collector's edition. Missed out because I was unfortunately not feeling Tales at the time after playing Zesteria...for like 5 hours. Christ, can't even imagine how I would have felt if I had actually played all the way through Zesteria ahead of time. Might still be snubbing Berseria to this day!

I'm glad I played Berseria first because I then played Zestiria after and like 1 1/2 years later have logged ~2 hours into it.

Berseria at $7.20 is crazy good.

Tales of is one of those series I have plans of getting into eventually. I'm always seeing it go on sale these days.

Of course, after I finish all these other JRPGs on my backlog. >_>

eh, I'd say a lot of Tales games are pretty cliche all the way through. the good ones (like Berseria) do what you're saying.

I bought it because of this thread. I have never played a Tales game, and have pretty much exclusively heard of them via B8. What should I be expecting?

Except a complex elemental/attack combo action RPG. Expect every character outside of one or two being fifty shades of comically crazy/weird/murdery/offbeat (no one is nice just for the sake of being nice). Expect a lot of really good voice acting and character motivation, brought down (sometimes) by the innane comic relief.

But seriously, the characters are the draw of this game.

One thing I heavily recommend though:

Do not bother going for every achievement unless you want to spend an extra 60+ hours after beating the game, with at least half of it on monotonous BS they stuck achievements behind.

Though Strife has a good point. There isn't one "bad" major character in the game.

The worst major Berseria characters are just, like, underdeveloped, and just missed opportunities.

The only things I have ever properly 100%ed are Skyrim, DDLC+, a Pokemon romhack and the Stanley Parable, so I don't think we're worried about that.

Main thing I can recommend is to not get bogged down in minmaxing the dumb inventory/equipment system, especially if you're keeping the difficulty at Normal (which is pretty easy). Will save you some time.
