I have the air conditioner, a floor fan, and the ceiling fan all on and I'm still sweating. And there are very few things that make me angrier than trying to go to sleep when it's hot.

You ever feel like maybe you were born in the wrong place? I was born and raised here and I've still never gotten used to this weather.

I can't wait for the next few months when it finally begins to cool off.

I'm not saying other places don't have it just as bad, I'm just in a mood because I can't get to sleep.

I hate the heat because there's only so much you can do about it. With cold, you can always add more layers, but there's only so much you can take off before you're nude.

Heat in general blows, but especially when trying to fall asleep. You can always add more blankets. Can't take off skin.

Is it a big room? Can you take all that stuff to a smaller room where the AC would be more effective? Can you move your bed closer to the AC unit?

Have you tried placing the floor fan at your bed and have it blow air over your exposed back?

Portland got above Texas temps this summer and honestly, I hated every second of it. I couldn't imagine 85+ days for even longer during the year. Like as bad as it was, it was still only about two months of hell for us.

I definitely need to move somewhere with AC at this rate. Stay strong, TC.

I'll take the dry heat of New Mexico, where it will get into the 100s and 0% humidity on a daily basis over the low 90s with high humidity of East Texas.

I'm in texas also and I hate it. I keep my aparment at 83 degrees because if I go any lower my electricity bill is too high. When I sleep, I turn on my ceiling fan and I also have a small separate fan pointing at my head and chest.

It's a midsize room. I live in a fairly small apartment, only a living room and a bedroom (not counting the kitchenette, bathroom and closets), and when I moved in it was winter, so I put my bed and stuff in the actual bedroom. Then when summer rolled around I found out that the bedroom gets hotter than Satan's fiery asshole. So I switched things up and moved my bed and stuff into the living room and my couch and lounge chair into the bedroom.

I can't move the AC because it's built into the wall, otherwise I totally would. Can't get any closer to it than the current arrangement, either.

I feel for you. I work from home, and my bedroom/office is in a corner of the house the ac does not reach well apparently, my room is the single worst. Actually not too bad today (Oklahoma), but a couple of weeks ago I was literally having to change my pants and underwear at least once a day cause I was sweating so much

Ah, I kind of figured you'd be smart enough to think of these things yourself, but we all have mental blindspots sometimes. Can you put up blankets to block areas you don't need cooled? Looks kind of trashy if you care about that kind of stuff, but whatever beats the heat. I hang a blanket up on my windows to block the heat from the sun sometimes.

I'm not allowed to hang things from the walls or ceiling in this apartment. HUD has strict guidelines for what I can and can't do here. I'm not about to say that I understand it, but if I want to keep living here (and it's incredibly cheap, so I do), I can't break the rules.
