Disney's Hollywood Studios has the Star Tours ride. One of the videos features Jar Jar Binks getting plastered against the ship's windshield. A cathartic moment for people who were greatly annoyed by him in Episode I.

The Jurassic Park arcade game (2000s version, not 1990s) features a cutscene in which a tyrannosaurus defeats a spinosaurus in a reversal of JPIII.

WWE wrestling. In the early 90s, they tried to have a whimsical character named Battlecat. He wore a purple mask and did backflips to the amusement of almost no one. In his third (and final) televised match, he was utterly dominated by Barbarian.

In-show example, The Simpsons. Itchy and Scratchy's producers acknowledged that Poochy was a bad idea when they decided to have him killed off en route to his home planet.

Mass Effect: Citadel DLC

Bioware releasing a trailer for Mass Effect 4 the year after Anthem while also ditching the cliffhangers left behind from Mass Effect Andromeda.

Dragon Age Inqusition being a bunch of open world areas after Dragon Age 2 recyled interiors and the city

Honestly you can just point at almost anything from Bioware in the last decade or so. Even Mass Effect 2 ditched the mako after backlash.

I think Sonic's team does it constantly... But their apologies end up in games they have to later apologize for.

https://www.wired.com/2011/07/nintendo-satoru-iwata-pay-cut/
NINTENDO'S PRESIDENT AND board of directors have volunteered to take substantial pay cuts in the wake of the Nintendo 3DS markdown, company president Satoru Iwata said at an investors briefing on Friday.
Iwata's salary, reported last year to be around $770,000, will be cut by 50 percent. Iwata earned significantly more last year in bonus pay, which he said would be reduced this year because of the company's declining profits. Members of the board, including Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, will take lesser cuts of 30 percent and 20 percent.
"The deduction of the fixed compensation is what we volunteered to do in order to show our sincere attitude and to fulfill our responsibility," said Iwata. "We really must recover our financial performance and take Nintendo back into the position in the marketplace where it is well appreciated."

We are to blame. We relaxed our [marketing] efforts, so the consumers today still cannot understand what's so good and unique about the Wii U. Because we're always trying to be unique, it takes some energies on our side to [make] people understand the real attractions about whatever we are doing.
We have been unsuccessful in coming up with one single software with which people can understand, 'OK, this is really different.' As long as people have hands-on [experience], they can appreciate the value of the Wii U, but because there's not software that's simple and obvious for people as 'Wii Sports' for the Wii, potential consumers do not feel like trying the Wii U. Our challenge today is with the software lineup we are introducing now, we have to encourage [people] to experience the Wii U in the first place.
I do not think we should become too pessimistic about the current situation with the Wii U. I think we should pour that time and energy into our [development] efforts, so eventually we can encourage third-party [publishers] to want to support Nintendo.

Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.
For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.
Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.
You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.
So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:
An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console there will be no regional restrictions.
These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.
We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.
Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.

https://www.theverge.com/2014/5/13/5713462/xbox-one-without-kinect-399
In a surprise move, Microsoft is planning to release an Xbox One without Kinect on June 9th. The new variant will be priced at $399, a figure that closes the $100 gap between the Xbox One and Sonys PlayStation 4. Despite early promises to developers and Xbox One owners that Kinect would ship with every console, it's clear Microsoft is having to change course and listen to consumers. "Weve also heard from people they just like to play games with a controller in their hands," says Microsofts head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. "Well continue to innovate on Kinect, I think its an important differentiator for us, but I also know there are people out there that want to make the choice when they want to make it." The $499 model with Kinect will continue to be sold, but Microsoft will also introduce a standalone Kinect sensor for Xbox One "later this fall."
