Just like politics, ignore the rants and opinions from either extreme. The game is not horrible, nor is it perfect. It's got average to above average gameplay combined with some gorgeous visuals. I've enjoyed the 20 hours or so I've put into it, but haven't yet completed it.

It's not really that divisive. For the most part it's basically an open world game with the Ubisoft formula done very well with pretty amazing visuals.
A chunk of people got angry that TLOU2 got GOTY awards over it so it got dragged into that mess for some reason but that's about it. --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Copied to Clipboard!

I really haven't heard/seen anyone say is the best game ever. Most people agree it's gorgeous and works pretty well as a more polished assassins creed game. Whether you like the AC formula will determine whether you like GoT.

It's the very definition of an 8/10 game. Everything about it is solid, but it's nothing life-changing. If you're a fan of Akira Kurosawa films, it's more like a 9/10 for you in that case.

I don't think it's trash, but outside of its visuals, and the novelty of the combat, it's really mediocre all around, IMO, and straight up terrible when it comes to stealth.
I feel that the game would have benefitted a lot if it were more linear, and ditched the open-world stuff. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's fun and it's pretty. It's core gameplay loop is almost identical to that of a modern assassin's creed. If you like that then it's fun. If not then you won't like it.
