People need to realize how crazy pledge recital is, especially when they talk about how whacky other countries having kids pledge allegiance to their leaders or political entities is. In general the US has a nationalism problem, and the flag worship is especially weird.

Cancel culture relates to being fired for something outside of work.

If your behavior at work negatively impacts your ability to perform your job, that's not cancel culture that's called "getting fired".

That is a fair point.

I guess what I meant is that getting in trouble now for doing a role where you had black skin tone makeup on in the past wasn't a person failing to do their job in any way. That was the job.

If you do something currently at work that is against the goal of your work, that's what getting fired would be.

Stuff far in the past is outside any current job and thus is "outside work" as I was talking about it.

I still don't think she should be fired, but just like don't do things like this at work because that's not your job.

Pledges to the US flag are weird enough, compelling somebody to pledge to any other flag is extra weird.

Also like, I have a feeling she did this just to piss people off on the internet, and like, don't do things to piss people off on the internet. Doesn't mean you should be fired, but it's an unproductive way to live.
