I am going to word this badly, with my normal issues with written expression and this topic. I had a now broken Alienware Laptop. I was informed by a worker at Best Buy , that how the system worked was that the smaller Hard Drive( the almost looks like stick of RAM) stores the OS, and everything I save goes to a normal 3.5 hard drive. The claim was that this makes it faster. So with that in mind. With my new laptop, I am looking to do the same thing. So was what he said correct, and what do you call the that type of hard drive. Someone helped me out with the name of that before, however I have since forgotten.

Does it have two hard drives? i.e. a smaller SSD for booting the OS, and a larger HDD for storage?

This one I have now has I guess just an SSD. And I put a HDD in it later. But in this computer the SSD just acts like normal HD and the HDD acts like a big USB drive.

This.

But to be honest having your files and OS on the drive at the same time wont slow down your PC.

The reason this was probably like this before was because the NVMe drive had a small capacity. They were pretty expensive but now you can get a TB of storage for a little over 100 depending on the brand.

NVMe + HDD is really just a budget thing and outdated imo

Also this.

M.2 SSDs are only getting cheaper, and it's the biggest performance upgrade you can get on a PC.

Double also, having only the OS on one drive and everything else on another is a pain because absolutely everything in Windows defaults to installing or saving to the C: drive and you'll spend the rest of time correcting it or forgetting to change it.

I'll think of a sig later.

Thanks guys and gals.

So replacing my NVMe drive and old school 2.5 with this (amazon Link). Would be wroth wild. I have an external Hard Drive I wantned to keep my games on. But my normal computer with my video editing is getting full too. So I am just wanting to wrap everything into one.
