Do you think the grand jury made the right decision not to charge him?

A Grand Jury has decided NOT to bring murder charges against 15 y/o Tucker Gales from Georgia after Tucker admitted he blew his father's brains out with a .22 rifle because he had "enough" of watching him beat his mother when he punched her and then kicked her in the head.

His father was arrested before for domestic abuse multiple times and when cops arrived, tucker admitted he'd shot his father and told him he had enough of seeing his mother be abused and he killed him to stop him FOREVER.

The teen was arrested for murder and taken to jail but was granted bond and allowed to return home while prosecutors weighed whether or not to charge him

It was turned over to a grand jury and the jury decided on Wednesday not to bring charges against him

DA Bobby Christine said the decision represented the combined wisdom of their community as friends and family launched a gofundme for the teen with a potential legal fund which has raised 10K of its 75,000 goal

Sarah Hensley, the mother of one of Tucker's friends said "For a 15 y/o boy that situation seems hopeless and he felt that he he had to take matters into his own hands and our hearts are breaking for him. I think our community needs to rally around him and show much he's loved and not be ashamed"

Do you think the grand jury made the right decision?

tag for the inevitable discussion on whether or not murder is bad 100% of the time

anyways, as a person in a similar hopeless situation once upon a time, i can completely understand why a kid would do this

Good for him.

Grew up with an abusive stepdad whom the cops never did anything about. I can understand his sense of desperation. Dude did the only thing he could do to make it end.

Self defense, or at least defense of another. really sucks that a 15 year old had to make such a decision though.

A .22 Hornet maybe (still doubt it).

Like, I'm sure the kid could've bludgeoned him to the edge of his life but chose a gun instead.

Oh well I'm not upset

You have to think about this... does this now mean the kid wont get help? He just killed his dad. Is patting him on the back and sending him back into the world without even a counseling session the right thing to do?

The dad was a scumbag but that's why the cops exist. Haul his ass back in the umpteenth time. Don't kill him unless you are currently the victim. The kid committed premeditated murder and got away with it, so I would not be surprised if he resorts to vigilante justice down the line and does it again.

Yup. Typically a .22 has enough power to enter a skull, but not enough to exit. So yeah, it basically bounces around and turns your shit to lace

Sometimes killing is the better option. Especially in this situation. The article I believe said he was brought up on charges once before. I doubt him being put in jail again would stop that, except this time he is coming back to get revenge. Even if he went to prison for 20 years, having to worry about when he gets out and if he is gonna find you would always be looking over their head.

Why so he can be let out and comeback for vengeance? Fuck that, some people need to be killed so they can't come back.

Man, I can understand that kid.

My dad used to hit my mother. Broke her jaw once and threw her through a glass coffee table.

Once I hit my teens, he miraculously stopped, except if I was out with friends.

One night, he sucker-punched her in the back of the head for disagreeing with him while he thought I was asleep. I wasnt.

He swung at me when I told him if he ever hit my mother again Id kill him. We got into a fistfight and he ran off to the fucking casino. Our relationship was pretty shit until he died, but he never hit my mother again.
